CARMEN LUNDY
CARMEN LUNDY
Old Devil Moon
(JVC)
Carmen is the sister of bassist Curtis Lundy, and apart from her own recordings Carmen has recorded extensively as a support vocalist.

Although Carmen is fantastic with covers, she is at her absolute supreme best when she sings her own compositions, and there are four on Old Devil Moon; from the reflective blues of 'You're Not In Love', to the moving 'At The End Of My Rope', and the soulful 'I'm Worried About You Baby', on which Carmen vocals are truly heartfelt. Old Devil Moon has it all; and the coup de grace is the sensuous 'Love Me Forever'. Carmen shines on the standards 'I Didn't Know What Time It Was', Ellington's 'In A Sentimental Mood' and 'Old Devil Moon, and she performs a great rendition of Donny Hathaway's 'Flying Easy'. JVC employed some the best jazz musicians around the World to record on this project, and they are Billy Childs, Frank Foster, Victor Bailey, Omar Hakim, Bob Mintzer, and Randy Brecker.

JVC are renowned for their choice of great jazz artists, and they make some of the best, and most dynamic recordings available, and this is definitely one of them. Old Devil Moon (1997) was Carmen's second album for JVC, the first was Self Portrait (1994).
