CAECILIE NORBY My Corner Of The Sky (Bluenote/EMI) Caecilie is a truly dynamic vocal stylist. She opens My Corner Of The Sky with Bacharach's 'The Look Of Love' in a Latin tempo. Sting's 'Set Them Free' is fresh and swinging. Other covers include Bowie's 'Life On Mars', Blood, Sweet & Tears' 'Spinning Wheel', and Cole Porter's 'Just One Of Those Things', Leon Russell's 'A Song For You' (that was previously covered by The Carpenters) with a jazz twist (well? all of these tracks are jazz interpretations). Noteworthy is 'African Fairytale'; written by Wayne Shorter, with lyrics provided by Caecilie. Special guests include Terri Lynn Carrington, Joey Calderazzo and The Brecker Brothers. If you are not really into jazz, but enjoy great songs with a jazzy feel, then My Corner Of The Sky is for you. I personally think this album is absolutely amazing!
