KEN NORDINE
KEN NORDINE
Best Of Word Jazz Volume 1
(Rhino/Border)
Ken Nordine was the voice on 100's of commercials for both TV & radio during the 50's and during this time to get his kicks he decided he wanted to become a jazz poet. Ken has always surrounded himself with the best sound-stages to project his lyrical wit. Included on Best Of Word Jazz Volume 1, which is a compilation, is The Fred Katz Group, Richard Marx (not the pop singer) & His Orchestra and Richard Campbell & The Northern Jazz Quartet, and these musicians were the perfect vehicle behind Ken. They played cool jazz, sound-effects and sometimes a little blues. If you have enjoyed Jack Kerouac and William.S.Burrows then you can't ignore Nordine! Lounge lovers will really dig this album. Nordine is slightly hip and slightly flipped as well. He has recorded many albums, and has recorded with the late Jerry Garcia of Grateful Dead as well.

Finally a quote from the sleeve notes: "Caution! Word Jazz may contain mind altering lyrics"
