TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS Through The Years: Anthology (MCA/Universal) This brilliant double CD compilation: Through The Years is an abbreviated version of the four CD box-set Playback: and traces Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers last 25 years, as one of America's most recognised and respected rock bands, both in sound and in style (from punk to pop). There is no mistaking Tom's vocal's, and Tom's distinctive Rickenbacker guitar sound, a sound he adopted from one of his major influences The Byrds. All the hits are herein, including 'Breakdown'; Tom's duet with Stevie Nicks 'Stop Draggin' My Heart Around' from Bella Donna, through to Tom's new hit 'Surrender'. Tom and Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell have been session musicians, producers and members of other bands ranging from The Traveling Willbury's, Taj Mahal to Eric Clapton.
