SERGEI RACHMANINOV
Piano Concertos 1-4; Vladimir Ashkenazy, LSO, Andre Previn
(London/Universal)
Although this is an old recording (Kingsway Hall. 1972) of Sergei Rachmaninov's four piano concertos, they are still brilliant performances.

Featuring Vladimir Ashkenazy on piano, with the London Symphony Orchestra, and conductor Andre Previn. Ashkenazy demonstrates superb artistry and musicianship, playing each concerto with remarkable warmth and eloquence. The London Symphony Orchestra's accompaniment is outstanding in both its poetry and precision. The digitally remastered sound is absolutely outstanding, giving these works depth of feeling.

This mid-price twin CD set is great value for money.
