RICE, RICE, HILLMAN & PEDERSON
RICE, RICE, HILLMAN & PEDERSON
Rice, Rice, Hillman & Pederson
(Rounder)
This CD is a broad exploration into bluegrass and acoustic country music by musicians Tony Rice, Larry Rice, Chris Hillman and Herb Pederson. They originate from the Southern California bluegrass/folk scene in the 1960s, and individually went on to become members of such bands as the Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, J.D. Crowe & the New South, Country Gazette and the Desert Rose Band.

Here they perform songs that express a collective passion for uncluttered arrangements. There are moments where they play with a sensitivity that somehow breathes life into each instrument literally making it, sound as if it is singing. 'Rice, Rice, Hillman & Pederson' is the second release from these accomplished musicians who individually and together share substantial credits throughout their respective careers.

Even if you are unfamiliar with the names, you will quickly appreciate the exceptional skill and feeling portrayed in this collection of songs which balances five originals, (four new songs by Hillman and one by Larry Rice) and standards like, Flatt & Scruggs, ' Be On That Good Road Someday', Mike Brewer's, 'Hearts Overflowing' and Delaney & Bonnie's, 'Never Ending Song Of Love'. This will appeal to mature audiences who may remember the previous Rounder album 'Out of the Woodwork' which is a consistent seller.
