JOHN SCOFIELD Bump (Universal) Bump is quite a progression on A Go Go, and journeys further into funk. On this trip John is joined by members of Deep Banana Blackout, Sex Mob, and Soul Coughing. Title track 'Chichon' (Spanish for Bump) has a Steve Cropper (Booker. T & the MG's) meets Bill Frisell guitar ambience. 'Kelpers' has a James Brown funky-flavour with a Sci-Fi TV theme texture. Fans of wah-wah pedal will enjoy 'Blackout' where John really unwinds. 'Kilgeffen' is very ethereal. 'Swinganova' has a bossa meets Santana rhythmic feel. 'Drop and Roll' maps John De Gli Antoni's freaky keyboard soundscape with Scofield's progressional riff changes. Bump's main appeal will be to those who wish to enhance their jazz-guitar horizons.
