Hard Act To Follow
(Blind Pig)
E.C. Can be as soulful as Aretha Franklin, or as tough as blues-belter Koko Taylor.

Hard Act To Follow opens with the jumpin' 'Steppin' Out On A Saturday Night', featuring the fiery guitar playing of Early Times. Scott's own 'Tell Me About It' is reminiscent and on a par with Etta James' 'Tell Mama'. It's great to hear humour in songs like 'Queensize Bed'. 'San Francisco gets a little Chicago during 'Lying And Cheating'. A budding queen of soul emerges during the title track 'Hard Act To Follow; that is a song about E.C. cheating on her man and how she misses him; He's a "hard act to follow". E.C. also gets into gender politics on 'Men Gossip Too'. 'Sweet Man Of Mine' is pure jazz-soul. The Drifters and many others would have loved to have recorded 'Another Night In Paradise. Heart rendering, soulful honesty comes through on 'If You're A Good Woman'. E.C. rounds off this brilliant album with The Eurythmics 'Missionary Man', that she literally transforms into her own.

This is E.C.'s second album for Blind Pig, and once you have heard her, she's a hard act to follow!
