Evan Silva is the singing evangelist with the Harbour City Christian Church; whose singing 'styles' reflect the great soul singers of the legendary sixties 'Motown' era.

During the sixties-seventies Evan sang with 'The Action', 'The Reaction', and sang on many advertising gingles, and this included working in the studio with many great musicians, plus with vocalist and friend Jacqui Fitzgerald.

Recently Evan formed 'Silva Service' after the sales of his solo, debut studio album Ain't No Two Ways About It did exceptionally well. Ain't No Two Ways About It features the delightful 'Love Sweet Love', 'Cool Water' that are very 'Stax' in flavour, and the title track that is reminiscent of Steely Dan. Ain't No Two Ways About It is not only a statement of faith, but showcases the high standard of Evan's compositions, and the exceptional talents of his session musician friends.

Radio host Leighton Smith of Newstalk ZB in Auckland really likes Ain't No Two Ways About It, and in his opinion Ain't No Two Ways About It is of an International standard, and has promoted it during his talkback show.

Leighton was invited to introduces Evan's latest album Gotta Get Up.

A mixed audience of Christians and secular persons made up the standing room only crowd for the recording of Gotta Get Up, and it became very apparent that the performance was being enjoyed by all.

'Silva Service' includes Evan's friend and fellow ex-Action member Pastor Jack Stradwick (formerly of Headband), jazz musician Chris Mason-Battley (founding member of Bluetrain), Dennis Winters, Trevor King, Steve Summers and many others.

The theme of Gotta Get Up is gospel exultation and adoration, featuring a blend of Latin rhythms, soul and jazz.

Evan's powerful vocals can be as gentle and soulful as Al Green, as heartfelt as an earnest Eric Clapton, and as funky as any Latin singer I've ever heard.

Gotta Get Up's Latin flavours include the funky 'You're The One' and 'Ready'. 'Believe It' is reminiscent of Marvin Gaye's classic 'Inner City Blues', and Evan's 'Make A Noise' shares similarities with Clapton's rendition of 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot'. 'Send Me An Angel' is a plea to God from Evan and his wife Carole for children to come into their loving fold. Gotta Get Up closes with the bonus studio track 'You Make The Difference', a song Evan wrote for the 'Open Homes' adoption project. This beautiful song asks "What About The Child?" and asks you to support the Family.

Apart from the audiences applause, Gotta Get Up is barely recognisable as a live recording. And a closing note: the music although Gospel in flavour, can be thoroughly enjoyed by anyone who loves great soul music.
