SAMANTHA SIVA
Rhythm Of The Voices
(Genie)
Samantha Siva (Kumaran) composes most of what she sings, and this is a lady that has that Sade meets Loose Ends sound; with everything from sultry jazz to pop-tinged soul. Rhythm Of The Voices opens with the very sexy 'Angel', then floats into the dreamy 'Sound Of Summer'. 'Mr Loverboy' takes on an almost hypnotic love making atmosphere, whereas 'This Is So Real' and 'Don't Say Goodbye' are very Sade-ish type love ballads. 'Rhythm Of The Voices' is very chantish and spiritual. 'Whatever You Want' is a song that will stay with you long after you have played it. If you have enjoyed Sade, then you are really going to love this princess.

Identity
(Genie)
Samantha Siva has again come up with an album of mostly originals. David Benoit is on board as producer, and as a support musician on three of the tracks. 'I Can't Stop', 'Wilderness' that also features Tim Weisberg on flute, and 'Lullaby'. Richard Elliot guests on the Sade-ish 'Living Alone', and Chieli Minucci features on guitar during 'If I Never'. Samantha even dabbles with a little folk with Simon & Garfunkel's 'Scarborough Fair', and Siva's own Worldly 'Riding Horses. Siva is proving that she is not only a great singer, she can also write some really beautiful, sexy ballads. Background photo by Jochen Amdt.
