JEAN-YVES THIBAUDET Conversations With Bill Evans (Decca/Universal) This is a beautifully performed solo tribute to the jazz genius Bill Evans. The knowing touch of Jean-Yves fingers on the Steinway resonates the rich colours that Bill put into so many of the works that he recorded. 'Song For Helen' and the 'Love Theme From Spartacus' includes overdubbed piano, that further enrichs the textures of these masterpieces; 'Since We Met' reflects Erik Satie's influences. Upon hearing Conversations With Bill Evans it was a delight not to hear any other instruments; just the tonal ambience of Thibaudet's Steinway. Gentle and sparse.
