RALPH VAUGHAN-WILLIAMS
Vaughan-Williams: Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Neville Marriner
(Argo/Universal)
Although 'Symphony Antartica' isn't included here (it would seem out of place), the other works more than make up for it.

Included is 'Fantasia on Greensleeves', 'Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis', Variants (5) of 'Dives and Lazarus' and 'The Lark Ascending'. Premier soloists include William Bennett in the 'Greensleeves Fantasia' and Iona Brown in the 'Lark Ascending'.

In my opinion this is the greatest collection of Ralph Vaughan-Williams shorter works; and you could go a long way to find a finer collection.
