KENNY WHEELER Angel Song (ECM/Universal) Listening to this beautiful masterpiece from Kenny Wheeler reminds me of Pat Metheny's As Falls Witchita, So Falls Witchita Falls, but with added flugelhorn. There is no drummer, or keyboards on Angel Song, instead we have Dave Holland (dbl.bass), Lee Konitz (alto saxophone), Bill Frisell (guitar), and Kenny on trumpet and flugelhorn. From 'Nicolette' through to 'Kind Of Gentle' the Quartet meaders through pastel melodies that are an ideal aural massage; and this music will haunt you for some time.
