The Wallflowers put on a great show. Humphrey's is located precisely bayside...and the weather was perfect for viewing Jakob Dylan and the boys. A wide variety of songs from the band's 2nd and 3rd album were performed....along with three covers: the who's revolution/constitution song, Elvis Costello's "what's so funny about peace, love and understanding" and Bowie's "Heroes". These covers allowed me to see who the wallflower's influences were, and were also very well done. The only complaint I had about the whole evening was the fact that the boys only played for a little more than an hour...performing only about 15 songs. Another half hour would have perfected the wallflower's memorable performance.
When i saw the Wallflowers back in Dec., it was a radio show, a collection of some really good bands. Good Charlotte, Fuel, Everclear, Wallfowers, and Live closed the show. (it was also the 20th anniversary of Lennons death and the day before Dylans birthday) The Wallflowers put on a good show, starting it off with Sleepwalker. Dylan would talk to the crowd in between songs sometimes, like before 6th Ave. Heartache, he said "well this is a radio show right? guess we'd better play some radio songs". They also played Letters From the Wasteland, One Headlight, The Difference, Heroes, Song 2 by Blur (Art Alexis from Everclear came out to sing with em' on that one). And overall they did a good job, but because there were so many bands their set wasnt that long. Also didnt get to hear the ballads like Josephine, Invisible City, but i'm not sure if they played Witness. Anyway I'm seeing them 9/16 with Mellencamp and since there isnt a whole slew of bands i guess their set will be longer. I guess it would be too much to ask to maybe hear a song from the 1st album (Hollywood please) but what can ya do. I reccomend seeing them in concert.

This particular concert was a radio show, so there were a lot of acts besides the Wallflowers that were performing. The Wallflowers were the headliners and went on last. The concert started around 4:30, but the Wallflowers didn't take the stage until after 9. There were around 5 other acts before the Wallflowers and at first I thought it would be a rough night for the Wallflowers because no one moved at all during the first few performances. They seemed like a tough crowd to please. Everyone stayed in their seats even after many of the performers kept urging the crowd to stand up and sing. Eve 6 went on right before the Wallflowers and people finally got up and enjoyed themselves. Then when the Wallflowers came onto the stage the crowd went crazy! The guys sounded amazing! Everyone was screaming for them and The Wallflowers seemed like they were having a lot of fun. Before One Headlight Jake jokingly said this one's a cult favorite. During their entire set the crowd was on their feet and jumping around. When they came back onstage for the encore only Mike, Greg, and Mario came out and Mike introduced them and he sang Song 2. Then Jake and Rami came back out and Jake introduced Rami and Ben before they played Won't Get Fooled Again. Then I think they added Don't Let Me Down to the encore because the crowd was so enthusiastic. Jake and Mike both sang the chorus and Mike sang the lead vocal. It was a really great show. The band sounded great!

the wallflowers show at the san antonio rodeo kicked ass! as a huge fan of the wf's, i enjoyed it very much and thought that the concert was full of energy and that they played a really great set. at the end, they rode their pick-up truck around the arena, and i managed to push my way to the front and touch jakob dylan's hand! not only did i have the time of my life listening to the music, but i discovered that jakob is even more sexy and gorgeous up close! and yes, those blue eyes are incredible. it was the best concert that i have ever been to. it was really great!

San Antonio Rodeo show hey, i just got back from the wallflowers concert, and let me tell u, it kicked ass. they had a lot of energy, and put up with a lot of stuff they weren't used to, like spinning stages, and a nasty rodeo smell. jakob even mentioned, "this isn't the first time we've been on stage spinning, but this is the first time we've been on a stage that's spinning." here's a makeshift
setlist:
Sleepwalker
Some Flowers Bloom Dead
6th Avenue Heartache
Letters From the Wasteland
Hand Me Down
Three Marlenas
Laughing Out Loud
I've Been Delivered
One Headlight
Heroes
The Difference
*cover of a song that i can't remember the name to, sorry
and maybe not in that order
i had to sit through about 2 hours of boring rodeo junk, like calf roping and barrel racing before the wallflowers came out. the stage was circular, and it spun around so that everyone could get a glimpse of the band from the front. they came out on a pickup truck and got on the stage. they went into sleepwalker and it was refreshing to see the crowd recognize it. it didn't really get a lot of airplay here, except on mtv or vh1. the band did well to mix up the first album with the new one. one headlight rocked. it sounded the best, and was just amazing. every other song pretty much went according to plan. they sounded similar to the album versions. it seemed as if i would say to myself, "i wish they would play this song," and the next song would be just that. it amazed me when they played heroes. it sounded so cool. and for the life of me, i can't remember the name of that last song. jakob said, "This song isn't ours. But it's as good as if it were." it was a good concert all around. the announcer said they were going to europe after this. we'll see... anyways, i was just glad to see them, and i hope they come back soon.

To begin my concert review, I would like to acknowledge the fact that the Wallflowers are the best, best, best, best band in the world. They have a tremendous live act; best I've ever seen. Since the concert was a Christmas present from my dad, he took me.J We got there at about 5:45, and stood in line to pick up our tickets at the box. Then we realized we forgot our cans (the concert benefited the Atlanta Food Bank, and everyone had to bring three cans,) so we had to run out and get those. They let us into the auditorium at about 6:15, then they kicked us out because we weren't suppose to be in there, although they were the ones who let us in. My dad and I went wondering around, and found this staircase. We went down it, and found this little section blocked off for some 99X deejays to talk on the radio I guessed. We hung around there for a while, and then I heard them say over the radio that they were going to interview the bands there: Palo Alto, The Marvelous Three, (who filled in on a 48-hour notice since Vertical Horizon's lead singer had a death in the family. In other words, they were going to play until that happened,) and the Wallflowers. I STOOD(in 4-inch-heeled boots) for like 2 hours while they interviewed Palo Alto, who were kinda boring, and The Marvy 3, who were extremely cool. I even got Jayce's autograph, even though I had no idea who they were. And then, the deejay said "Ok guys, I have to go interview the Wallflowers backstage now." Mt jaw dropped. I had stood there, all along waiting for the Wallflowers to come out, and all a long they were getting interviewed backstage.
Oh well. We went back into the auditorium, having missed Palo Alto, cuz we were talking to the Marvy 3, but we got there just in time for their marvelous show. I highly recommend buying their cds. We had really crummy seats, but my dad, the "Sneak Up to the Front of the Stage Master" got us reallllly close. And finally, the Wallflowers came out. I'll tell you the line-up in order right now: Sleepwalker, Some Flowers Bloom Dead, 6th Avenue Heartache, Letters From the Wasteland, Laughing Out Loud, Hand Me Down, I've Been Delivered, 3 Marlenas, God Don't Make Lonely Girls, One Headlight, Heroes ( which my dad, a Bowie fan, really liked) The Difference, Song 2, and Won't Get Fooled Again, by the Who.
Mario was as into it as I have ever seen him, especially on 6th Ave. Heartache. Later on, he also had this GREAT solo. He has to be the best drummer of all. Anyway, Mario was banging his head, and I started too, and before I knew it, he was smiling at me. It was the best head-banging experience ever. Before Laughing Out Loud, somebody in the front gave Jakob a wrapped b-day present. As he was unwrapping it, he thought the tissue paper was a pair of underwear, and he was like, "I think you should keep your panties. Do you want them back?" It was really funny cuz it turned out to be a belt buckle. He said "I know, I'll keep it right here," with a laugh, and stuck it in his back pocket. All the girls screamed. J Then he was like "Gee, this is a really great gift. I am so excited." The way he talks, it sounds like he's being really sarcastic, but he's not that way. He then said, "Man, I am so excited, I'm laughing out loud!" Then he went into the song.
I've heard that Jakob gets confused with his lyrics a lot, and maybe he's just faking it, but it's true. During 3 Marlenas, at the part, "Man I think I'm gonna buy myself a Rolls, maybe a Chevrolet, One where I can pull that top down, just let my radio play," he completely lost his place. Greg was over on the side making little driving motions, and it was so funny. It took them the longest time to get it back together. Jakob was like "Hey Greg, come over here and help me out," and Greg, with his shy self, was all meek and nervous, said "Ok," it was so cute.
During One Headlight, Jake started making his little hand motions. While singing "I turn the engine but the engine doesn't turn," he acted like he was trying to get a car started. Everyone was laughing.
After the Difference, Jake just said goodbye, and everyone waved and walked off-stage, and my dad yelled, "If you want them back you gotta scream!" and everybody started cheering, and Michael and Mario came back out and played Song 2, everyone was really pumped. Then the whole band came out with a huge birthday cake for Jakob, and they were throwing party hats and blowers every where. I personally a gymnast hat, and a Riddler blower. All of us started throwing hats to Jake, and he acted like he was putting it on, and then broke it on purpose. He was like, "Man! I broke it! It was a Bug's Life one too!" We threw more and he did the same thing. It was really funny. He gave this whole speech, it went a little something like this: "Wow what a day. It's great being 26. I've been 26 for the past 7 years, and this is the best one yet." Then someone threw him a Santa hat toboggan thing, and he said, "What the heck, I'll put it on. You're only 26 7 times." it was really funny. Then he said, "You know, since I'm 26, I'm a lot wiser than last year, even though I was 26 then too. But I'm a lot wiser now, and I'm gonna try to not be fooled again." Then, they all broke out into the Who's Won't Get Fooled Again. It was so tremendous. I didn't get to meet them, the dumb radio station wouldn't let anybody get near them. BUT, I don't care cuz it was still the best night of my life.

The second concert I went to was in my hometown, Eau Claire, WI. The opener was the John Doe Thing, and I didn't like him very much either. But The Wallflowers opened again with the same, Sleepwalker, and they played all of the same songs. The cutest part was when Jakob was like, "Now here is a song from our new album, its called Breach." then he was like "wait a minute, thats the name of our album, Bleach." then he was like, "No, I'm so nervous! Its called Letters from the Wasteland." It was really funny. He is so adorable. They also played three encores, including Blurs's song 2, who's wont get fooled again, and X's the new world. it was a great concert

Okay, well the show last night *rocked* and that's relative to the other two Wallflowers shows I've seen. We were in the front row, just to Jakob's left. We waited and waited and when finally the lights went down, everybody screamed. Mike came out and everybody screamed again and he goes, "hi, my name's Mike...and I'm in a little band called the Wallflowers..." then I don't quite remember what he said but he was introducing John Doe and said something like "he's a good friend of mine, and not only is he (talented? not sure what he said) but he's also really hot." And John Doe played. He was okay, but honestly I just wanted to see the 'flowers. I think it was kind of the wrong venue and wrong crowd for him to play to. He did a funny song called "Too Many Goddamn Bands." Anyway, then they checked the instruments and everything...the band came out at probably 9:00 or something, I dunno...the first one I saw was Greg, everybody cheered for him and he gave his humble little Greg-smile. I honestly don't remember what song they played first, or what exact order they played in. But I have a feeling it was Sleepwalker that they played first. The rest of the songs were: Hand Me Down, Letters From the Wasteland, I've Been Delivered, Murder 101, Sixth Avenue Heartache, God Don't Make Lonely Girls, One Headlight, Three Marlenas, Some Flowers Bloom Dead, The Difference, and Heroes...and for the encore Greg and>Mike did "Song 2" (I got so excited when I saw *them* stepping up to the mike!) and they all did an extremely energetic "Won't Get Fooled Again" and Mario did this awesome solo where Rami was joining in. I was in such a happy daze that I couldn't keep track of all the details. At first I kept yelling for Greg and a few times he grinned at me. Then I beckoned to Rami, lol, and he kept grinning and pointing and being crazy. I think he may have been a bit tipsy...Though he's always pretty animated I guess. Anyway...After the first couple of songs my sister was bugging me to hold up the sign and I didn't want to do it so early but I did anyway because it was a good moment - Jakob was talking to the crowd. (Btw the sign said "Please Play Ashes to Ashes for Britt") So I held up this sign and he looked at it and smiled a little and he goes, "Huh," and paused for a second. Then he goes "We have a request from Britt." He shaded his eyes from the light to see me and I was pretty much paralyzed with shock. I try not to be a dumbass most of the time but I have these lapses...He's like, "Are you Britt, or is Britt your friend?" and I said "it's me!" and pointed at myself like a dorkass. And I can't remember if he gave a reason as to why they didn't want to play it but he goes "I'll tell you what Britt. Do you like the new album?" And I said yes of course. And he goes, "well, we'll play one now from the new album," and gave me a wink. And they went into Letters From the Wasteland. After that he kept looking at me the whole show, and I wasn't even imagining it this time. He kept singing right to me and I was mouthing the lyrics along with him. He sang most of the 1st verse of Three Marlenas, the second verse of The Difference, and a LOT of I've Been Delivered, I know it was at least two verses, to me...IBD was the absolute BEST because he was looking at me mouthing the lyrics and he would pause for a second to see if I knew the next line. On the verse "I have drawn blood..." he was looking at me and making these gestures - pointing at his neck for "neckline," his ear and his head for "I once heard that you've got to learn..." It was really awesome that he was singing directly to people. He winked at me a total of three times and I couldn't believe it. I'm not a teenybopper type, but I think *any* girl (or boy, even) would be thrilled with that. He looked over to the group of people to his right for part of the song too...I specifically remember him singing the part "I've been gone, I've been remembered, I've been alive, I've been a ghost" to the girl that I thought must've been MoonShy, but I dunno. And everybody on that side was screaming. I think most of the front row was cool except this guy near me kept breathing his beer/pot breath on my neck and it made me want to vomit. A lot of the crowd was obnoxious kids who were body-surfing in our direction...they pulled a bunch of them out of there but apparently they didn't kick them out of the concert because somehow this assmunch who kicked me in the ear was pulled out of the crowd reappeared and ended up pushing me out of my spot for a couple songs; he was big so I couldn't budge him. I eventually got my front row position back. We were being crushed so much - I've never seen a Wallflowers crowd so rowdy. (I actually have bruises on my ribs - but it was for a good cause :) There was this little kid, and I'm not sure if he was part of the problem or an innocent bystander but somehow he was crushed so much that he stopped breathing and they dragged him out of the crowd like a rag doll...his eyes were rolling back in his head, I couldn't believe it. People are such assholes sometimes. Anyway. Rami had this little camera and he was taking pictures of Greg and of the crowd and he took a couple of my twin and I. I know I'm leaving out a million awesome details. One thing I remember is that Jake was having us sing One Headlight, to see if we knew all the words, and he lead us into the second verse of the song but he accidentally sang the first verse over again...and when he realized it, he goes, "I BLEW it!" and laughed. It was nice to see him be human :) Oh yeah, and also Jakob's hair is getting bigger. I like. After the show we waited out in the freezing rain under this overhang by the bus. There was this absolutely annoying girl in a red vest ordering us around. One of the security guys told us she didn't work there, she was just someone who was at the concert or something. I wanted to put masking tape over that giant mouth of hers: "OK Everybody! GET IN LINE! Form a line! They'll be a few minutes!" I think she had tourettes. Anyway it must've been like half an hour at least and we were all huddling for warmth. They all (excluding Jakob) individually darted out to the bus a couple of times before stopping to talk, etc. Mike brought a bag of garbage off the bus. I know it's sick but I was tempted to find out what kinds of things you'd find in the Wallflowers' garbage. Well, so Mike came out first and kind of floated down the line, I had him sign my poster. He seemed less talkative than usual but that's understandable. Then Rami and Greg and Mario came out and drifted in and out of the mob. Mario was really friendly...I had never met him before. When he signed my poster he said, "yeah, hey, sorry we couldn't do that one for you - next time!" And wrote "Sorry!" on my poster. Rami was his usual perky self and when someone asked him how he liked Dubuque he was like, "well it's fall...not much you can do...I like this Diamond Joe Casino place though!" lol I told Greg that he ruled on "Hand Me Down" and he seemed a little surprised that I cited that individual song. Then my sister goes, "this is my sister, she has a shrine to you." Greg said "to the *Wallflowers*" and I was like, yeah, ha ha. I was so embarrassed -here I was trying to play it cool and make a good impression and she blows my cover. Eventually Jakob came out and he was SO nice. He was a lot more open and talkative than last time I met him. He and Rami are the most personable of the band, I think. When he got to me he took my poster to sign it and said "you knew all the words! I kept checking up on you and every time you knew it!" And I was a bit in shock, to say the least. The thing is, when I finally meet them, I really don't know what I can say that will not sound moronic. I just kind of laughed and said "well I'm a big fan." He said "it's great. We appreciate it - we appreciate this kind of support." He sounded amazingly genuine in everything he said; I was amazed at how down-to-earth he was. I was talking to him for quite a while but I could not possibly tell you what else was said. My sister came up to him and told him about this English report she did on him a couple years back (I gave her all the info of course) where she argued that he is a celebrity in his own right, etc. He was like, "Really? What did you say about me?" And he was holding on to her arm. She said how she played Bleeders for the class and how she interpreted it to be about his obstacles, etc. She mentioned this right after these two guys said "We saw your dad here a few years back - did he tell you about this place?" Jakob was polite to them but kind of dismissed the question which is the only way to deal I guess. Jakob told Annika it was really cool that she did a report on that subject...he actually sounded glad that we weren't fawning over him like a lot of the other girls were doing: "You're so hot Jakob, are you married?" Anyway, Annika pulls me in and goes, "This is my twin sister Britt." And he smiled at me and said "yeah, we met...you girls are twins?! I'm guessing that you're not identical, you're fraternal?" And we nodded and I said "she's adopted, of course." And Annika said, "and *she* was raised by a pack of wolves" At that Jakob threw his head back and laughed and said, "yeah, me too!" I couldn't believe we were in this situation. He was hugging all of these people and I wanted to get a hug so badly but I kept letting my window of opportunity pass. Anyway, we hung out a little while longer but then my sister's boyfriend said we had to go and I was sad about that but oh well, I guess. Jake told us thanks for coming and thanks for being so enthusiastic and we waved and ran to the car screaming. On the way out we passed them again and I was kicking myself for not staying longer but I was happy. I'm always *sad* when I leave the concert though. I feel the need to see them again, immediately.

In Milwaukee the concert was at the Eagles Ballroom and it was really cool. It was just a dance floor surrounding the stage and we got there an hour early so we were pretty close to the front. Everlast was the opener, and I didn't think that he was very good. The Wallflowers were ten times better. They opened with Sleepwalker. They also played God Don't Make Lonely Girls, Letters from the Wasteland, Hand Me Down, Murder 101, Some Flowers Bloom Dead, the Difference, One Headlight, Laughing Out Loud, Three Marlenas, and 6th Avenue Heartache. It was the best concert I have ever been too, and the first one too. Jakob looked really gorgeous and he was quite the winker! The also played two encores. The first one Michael played Blur's Song 2, and then they all played Won't Get Fooled Again from the Who. It was really fun, and it was way too short!!!

I went to the 11/13/00 concert at Luther Burbank in Santa Rosa California. I go to several concerts and this was by far the best I had ever seen!! I love Jakob and the Wallflowers they were full of energy and style. I made my way to the front row and was just mesmerized after that. (sorry can't remember the set list) I so badly wanted to get an autograph but was unable to so I sent Jakob and the boys a pair of Levi jeans hoping they would autograph them. I got them back a few days later. This of course made me an extremely happy fan! I cannot wait until the new tour starts!! (Counting the minutes) I have attached a JPEG of the jeans I don't know if it is of any use but they are my prize possession and I just want people to know how wonderful the guys are to take time out of their busy schedule to sign and send these back to me!!!
