To begin my concert review, I would like to acknowledge the fact that the Wallflowers are the best, best, best, best band in the world. They have a tremendous live act; best I've ever seen. Since the concert was a Christmas present from my dad, he took me.J We got there at about 5:45, and stood in line to pick up our tickets at the box. Then we realized we forgot our cans (the concert benefited the Atlanta Food Bank, and everyone had to bring three cans,) so we had to run out and get those. They let us into the auditorium at about 6:15, then they kicked us out because we weren't suppose to be in there, although they were the ones who let us in. My dad and I went wondering around, and found this staircase. We went down it, and found this little section blocked off for some 99X deejays to talk on the radio I guessed. We hung around there for a while, and then I heard them say over the radio that they were going to interview the bands there: Palo Alto, The Marvelous Three, (who filled in on a 48-hour notice since Vertical Horizon's lead singer had a death in the family. In other words, they were going to play until that happened,) and the Wallflowers. I STOOD(in 4-inch-heeled boots) for like 2 hours while they interviewed Palo Alto, who were kinda boring, and The Marvy 3, who were extremely cool. I even got Jayce's autograph, even though I had no idea who they were. And then, the deejay said "Ok guys, I have to go interview the Wallflowers backstage now." Mt jaw dropped. I had stood there, all along waiting for the Wallflowers to come out, and all a long they were getting interviewed backstage.

Oh well. We went back into the auditorium, having missed Palo Alto, cuz we were talking to the Marvy 3, but we got there just in time for their marvelous show. I highly recommend buying their cds. We had really crummy seats, but my dad, the "Sneak Up to the Front of the Stage Master" got us reallllly close. And finally, the Wallflowers came out. I'll tell you the line-up in order right now: Sleepwalker, Some Flowers Bloom Dead, 6th Avenue Heartache, Letters From the Wasteland, Laughing Out Loud, Hand Me Down, I've Been Delivered, 3 Marlenas, God Don't Make Lonely Girls, One Headlight, Heroes ( which my dad, a Bowie fan, really liked) The Difference, Song 2, and Won't Get Fooled Again, by the Who.

Mario was as into it as I have ever seen him, especially on 6th Ave. Heartache. Later on, he also had this GREAT solo. He has to be the best drummer of all. Anyway, Mario was banging his head, and I started too, and before I knew it, he was smiling at me. It was the best head-banging experience ever. Before Laughing Out Loud, somebody in the front gave Jakob a wrapped b-day present. As he was unwrapping it, he thought the tissue paper was a pair of underwear, and he was like, "I think you should keep your panties. Do you want them back?" It was really funny cuz it turned out to be a belt buckle. He said "I know, I'll keep it right here," with a laugh, and stuck it in his back pocket. All the girls screamed. J Then he was like "Gee, this is a really great gift. I am so excited." The way he talks, it sounds like he's being really sarcastic, but he's not that way. He then said, "Man, I am so excited, I'm laughing out loud!" Then he went into the song.

I've heard that Jakob gets confused with his lyrics a lot, and maybe he's just faking it, but it's true. During 3 Marlenas, at the part, "Man I think I'm gonna buy myself a Rolls, maybe a Chevrolet, One where I can pull that top down, just let my radio play," he completely lost his place. Greg was over on the side making little driving motions, and it was so funny. It took them the longest time to get it back together. Jakob was like "Hey Greg, come over here and help me out," and Greg, with his shy self, was all meek and nervous, said "Ok," it was so cute.

During One Headlight, Jake started making his little hand motions. While singing "I turn the engine but the engine doesn't turn," he acted like he was trying to get a car started. Everyone was laughing.

After the Difference, Jake just said goodbye, and everyone waved and walked off-stage, and my dad yelled, "If you want them back you gotta scream!" and everybody started cheering, and Michael and Mario came back out and played Song 2, everyone was really pumped. Then the whole band came out with a huge birthday cake for Jakob, and they were throwing party hats and blowers every where. I personally a gymnast hat, and a Riddler blower. All of us started throwing hats to Jake, and he acted like he was putting it on, and then broke it on purpose. He was like, "Man! I broke it! It was a Bug's Life one too!" We threw more and he did the same thing. It was really funny. He gave this whole speech, it went a little something like this: "Wow what a day. It's great being 26. I've been 26 for the past 7 years, and this is the best one yet." Then someone threw him a Santa hat toboggan thing, and he said, "What the heck, I'll put it on. You're only 26 7 times." it was really funny. Then he said, "You know, since I'm 26, I'm a lot wiser than last year, even though I was 26 then too. But I'm a lot wiser now, and I'm gonna try to not be fooled again." Then, they all broke out into the Who's Won't Get Fooled Again. It was so tremendous. I didn't get to meet them, the dumb radio station wouldn't let anybody get near them. BUT, I don't care cuz it was still the best night of my life.
