Wow! Where do I start? My friend and I got to Red Rocks a couple hours before they opened the gates. There was already a line of cars waiting to get in (mainly Tom Petty fans who had been there since 6 am getting drunk). We got in early and got our seats right away, off to the right of the stage. There was a lot of pushing from the Petty fans to get in front. I think my friend and I were the only ones there who came only to see the Wallflowers! It didn't matter though! After we got our seats, I went and bought a Wallie hat, keychain and 2 bumper stickers!! My motive that night was to get backstage to meet the Wallflowers so I tried talking to the guards to see what I could do. They basically said I couldn't get in without a pass. My friend and I were watching the stage and from our seats we had a perfect view in the window of the press room and door. Ben came out and hour before the show and took pictures of the crowd. He seemed really friendly cause he went around talking to the crew people and stuff. I yelled out his name and waved to him. I think he was surprised that I actually knew who he was. After that we watched the window some more and saw Rami, Mike and Mario pass by! They all came out the door and walked in the far back of the stage. I snapped a few photos but I don't know if they will turn out. Mario went back up and stood in front of the window for awhile. My friend and I stood up and were waving hysterically at him. He stared at us the whole time we were doing it and we figured he was trying to ignore us crazy people! It wasn't long before all 6 of them finally came out. It was stull bright outside so we could see them perfectly!! They only played 8 songs and their set lasted an hour but it was all worth the $65 I payed for my ticket!! We danced and mouthed to all their songs. We caught Rami, Mario and Mike's attention a couple times cause we were jumping up as high as we could and screaming at the top of our lungs, or at least I was. Jake was having a hard time breathing cause the altitude was so high. He said that Denver was definately his favorite high altitude city. During a verse of "I've been Delivered", he said he couldn't hit the note cause he couldn't catch his breath! They ended their set with "The Difference" and when they were leaving, we booked our way through the crowd to the backstage door. I had my Breach cd out and waiting to see if they'd come to the door and sign it. When the door opened we looked in and there was Rami standing in the back. He came to the door and walked down this 3 foot ramp right past us. He was looking for a couple to give them some backstage passes. When he was coming back up the ramp, I asked him if he could sign my cd but he just walked back in. A little later, a guard came back to the door with the couple he was looking for and he came back out again. I asked him again and he said that he would be back. He never did so I was kinda disappointed that he couldn't spare a few seconds to sign it. We waited around some more and finally Mike comes walking out with a black beanie on his head. I immediately asked him to sign it and he said sure!! He was my hero!! After that he disappeared into the crowd to watch Tom Petty's set. We left once Tom Petty's set started and went down to where the buses were. We could hear the concert from down there so we parked our hineys next to The Wallflowers golden tour bus and waited. Close to the end of the concert, a white van pulled up next to the bus and out stepped Jake!!! I was so shocked that all I could do was squeak and say "It's Jake! It's Jake." I started to run over there but before I could say anything, he was already walking up the steps and into the bus, doors closing behind him. I almost kicked myself in the rear for missing a chance to talk to him. I still hate myself for chickening out. At the end of the concert, another white van pulled up and the rest of the guys got out and rushed onto the bus. We could hear their manager tell the driver to start up the bus. We were frantic to get their autographs. Mario was the last guy out of the van and when we asked him if he could sign my cd, he said he couldn't and got on the bus. We watched as the bus pulled away, heartbroken!! When I look back, dispite the fact that didn't get Jake's autograph, I still had a great time at the concert. It had to be my best Wallflowers concert yet but there will be more, and hey! I still got Mike's sig!!!
