Last night, Indiana native, John Mellencamp, put on a very good rock and roll show. Around 10,000 people danced, sung, and cheered the artist formally known as Johnny Cougar for his close to 2 hour set. Opening for Mellencamp, were the former icons of rock, The Wallflowers, whose lastest album, Breach, has sold a modest 600,000 copies, which is relatively small compared to their 6 million selling record in 1996, Bringing Down the Horse. The Wallflowers opened up with "Sleepwalker", the first single from Breach. And thought the 45-minute set they played very good rock and roll, with favorites such as "6th Avenue Heartache," Bowie's "Heroes," "One Headlight," and the last song, which I thought they played the best, The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," sent the crowd to its feet. But even though, The Wallflowers sounded burnt out, Jacob Dylan's voice at times sounded pretty rough, maybe he has some genes passed down from his father, the legendary Bob Dylan.
