The wallflowers were the 4th of 5 bands playing that night. Good Charolotte opened the show, followed by Fuel, and Everclear. All three of the bands prior to the wallflowers put on loud, almost hard rock shows (especially fuel) which were good performances. The final band which played after the wallflowers was Live. The wallflowers obviously are not really a hard rock, loud kind of band. I went to this concert to see them play their songs, no matter what volume. I really wanted to hear "Josephine". But i understand why they didnt play their ballads. The pressure from the previous 3 bands was obvious. When the crowd is pumped up to one kind of music, they wouldnt really want the wallflowers to slow it down (i would've prefferred it actually). But nevertheless, they did a good job. The concert was before i got "Breach" so i didnt know some of their best songs (letters from the wasteland, some flowers bloom dead) yet. But they played all their radio hits as well. Added in there, to keep the crowd pumped were "song 2" and they closed with "wont get fooled again" by the who (which i loved). Whenever they come to the philly/nj area again this spring, i hope its just them and no supporting acts, because i want to hear genuine wallflowers music. It IS what they do best, no?
