THE CD:UK INTERVIEW WITH BBMAK

They might be back here now but BBMak have been all over the shop with their album, becoming the first British boy band to break the States. We caught up with them for a natter about their favourite places ...

Asia
Mark: One of the first places we went to back in October or November '99 was Asia. We did a big tour there and our single Back Here went to No 1 in five countries. Actually I've got a bit of a story for you about our trip. When we were in Japan, we went out with the record company and didn't get back until about 2am.
Ste: We'd been out as this little nightclub in town, hadn't we?
Mark: Yeah. I'd just got into my room when I heard a noise outside the door so I went over and looked through the little keyhole ... and I saw two fans who were staying two doors down from me. I didn't want to open the door because I was really tired but they kept swiping things underneath the door to find out if I was standing there! They ended up putting a letter underneath the door saying 'we're staying two doors down, we've got a PlayStation so come and join or else we'll kill you (and we're not joking!'
Christian: I remember this. Mark was quite shaken up by it all.
Mark: I was and have to say I didn't join them but I saw them the next day and said, 'What's all this 'I'm going to kill you business about'?' They said it was just a joke! I didn't think it was very funny! That was a mad night.

Canada Christian: Another place we've been to is Canada. I've got a lot of family in Toronto and I was actually made in Toronto cos that's where my mum and dad got it on! We went to Canada recently and released our single and it got to No 7 in the radio charts so we were really successful there. We were lucky enough to have a day off in Vancouver so we decided to go snowboarding. Only, we thought we were better than we actually were! We had a lot of fun but the next day we were so stiff we couldn't move!

America Ste: Another place we've been is America. It's a big, big place! We' had a great time in the States. We went on tour with Britney Spears, we met a lot of people who we'd looked up to for a long time and we completed our own headline tour. It was wicked!

England Christian: Let's pick somewhere else. I know, England. We'd only released one single in England before we toured around the world. We got into the Top 40, which was good but then when we released the single again this year we went to No 5 which was fantastic. I have to say it's great to be back.
