British "boy band" BBMak broke the girls' hearts Saturday at SpringFest, leaving the stage after 18 minutes, and only four songs, never to return. Thousands of teen-age girls, some carrying BBMak signs, others with the boys' names painted on their faces and arms, stood around confused after the band's exit, thinking maybe the groups was taking a break for a costume change (costumes are important to boy bands). When the realized the show was over, many were crushed. "I am so mad, " said Brittany Palor, 15, a Navarre High School freshman. "I came to see them. They're the reason I'm here. I can't believe they did that." SpringFest officials said BBMak was contracted to perform 25 minutes, which even then would make a short show. The stage's next act, the Knack, was scheduled to play 55 minutes after BBMak's start time. Playing with a drum track instead of a drummer, BBMak was experiencing "technical problems," but officials said they didn't know what they were. The Pensacola concert was the last stop for BBMak before opening for N'Sync tonight in Jackson, Miss.; its set was supposed to be the same set at the same length allowed for the N'Sync show. The up and coming BBMak could take a cue from Willie Nelson, who drew thousands to his twilight show. In fact, Nelson's guitar could be called a "technical problem"- the battered acoustic guitar has a hole almost as big as BBMak's ego. ............ CUT FOR RELEVANT INFO....... While BBMak pouted backstage, some local bands proved that it's not about being a huge star, but about playing music for the sheer thrill. .......ARTICLE CONTINUES TALKING ABOUT THE REST OF THE MUSIC FESTIVAL..... ------------------------
