Sheryl Crow played her first U.K. show in more than three years last night (March 20) at the 800-capacity Scala club in London's King's Cross. The 100-minute set came as part of a week-long promotional visit to mark the April 8 U.K. release of her new A&M album, "C'mon, C'mon." The set is due a day later in North America.

Crow is undertaking a busy week of interviews and radio and TV performances that will include appearances on major television shows "Parkinson" and "Top of the Pops," and on MTV, with features due to run in several newspapers. The album's first single, "Soak up the Sun," out on April 1, is already winning substantial airplay in the U.K. The track is No. 10 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 Tracks chart this week.

Since "C'mon, C'mon" includes guest appearances by Lenny Kravitz and Gwyneth Paltrow, there were rumors that either or both might make an appearance on stage or in the audience. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, a friend of Crow's, was invited but was not on hand.

Nevertheless, an enthusiastic crowd was entertained by a selection of old and new material, starting with "Every Day is a Winding Road" and including such hits as "My Favorite Mistake," "If it Makes You Happy," "All I Wanna Do," and "Run Baby Run." From the new album, Crow played such tracks as "Steve McQueen," "Soak up the Sun," and "You're An Original." She closed with a cover of "Good Times Bad Times," from Led Zeppelin's self-titled 1969 debut album.

Crow plays Munich on Monday (March 25). A North American tour is in the works for the coming months.
