To start with, the first thing that strikes you about Les Flames! is that their sound seems to be quite dated. At first, Track 1 'Mutley 1 From Essex' makes you instantly think that they sound like they've jumped on the 70's punk/rock bandwagon 25 years too late, but the more of them you listen to, the more they sound like the new
wave of rock music that is around at the moment. They have a very Datsuns feel to them - and who doesn't love the datsuns!? Quite an old garage rock sound similar to those which can be found taking pride of place in your Dad's record collection, but at the same time, a sound which is very modern and in a way ahead of it's time.
This is the sound of the future. Along with The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Datsuns, and Burning Brides, les Flames! are here to kick the arses of The Strokes and The Vines right out the charts and into the same gutter at nu-metal.
