In the Fall of 2000, Matt Burk and Matt Osterberg set out to start a band. At first, this band was informal and was even a joke band. The name this band bared was "Captain Crayon's Funkadelic Orchestra". The band included Brian Nickerson, who was originally the bass player with Matt Burk on drums. Matt Burk purchased a drums set and learned to play. But deep down, Matt was a true bass player. Something had to go. It was the drums. His red set of drums were traded in for his burnt organge glistening bass. He learned to play in no time. Matt Burk and Matt Osterberg jammed a lot and on occasion Brian would join in. Matt and Matt hadn't any idea what to play. So nursery rhymes were put to chords. Though this may sound utterly stupid, the chord progressions gave birth to a new side of the band. Under the name of Axon or the Colts, many new pieces of music and lyrics were created. Matt and Matt rehearsed and jammed and it was coming together. There were a few problems. No singer and no drummer. Two key elements in any band. With Matt Burk's lyric pages growing swiftly into the triple digits, it was clear who was the lyrical genius. One day at a jam session, Matt decided to record a new number he had been working on, called Heart in a Jar. He sang. This was another turning point for the band. The band now had a singer. But the ever important drummer wasn't there. In the studio Matt Burk and Matt Osterberg both played drums on recording sessions, overdubbing their other parts later on. But a drummer who had expirence and dedication and *ahem* talent was wanted. Plus, the band couldn't do any shows! In the early Summer of 2001, Matt Burk and Matt Osterberg went to a beach party. Of course, Matt O. brought his guitar. (He probably sleeps with those things!). Matt O. was playing and so was Matt B. Soon after, the band met Missy Hughes. Missy Hughes played drums. She was in the band at once. Now the band was complete! The band dabbled in different names before becoming Limit Break. Now Limit Break has 3 creative forces behind it and a lot of talent. This band has had an intresting history, but let me tell you, this is just the beggining...
