This book is about the young Princess Mary. She loved her mother dearly, and showed it most openly, unlike her father. He has been getting quite bored with her lately and is getting annoyed with her being incapable to bear a son. He is planning to re-marry to someone younger! This infuriates Mary. To make things worse, if that is possible, the King has banished Queen Catherine to a tiny cottage in the middle of no where. He also forbids any communication between the Queen and her daughter Mary!
