Beginnings

chapter 2

As time goes by, you will get to know me ..."

"Von." He always called her that. "What time do you think you'll be done tonight?"

"Um, probably around 2. Why? What's up?" Siobhan replied, silently wishing that it was already 2 a.m. and she'd be out of there and in his arms.

They'd been together for almost two months and had been controlling their desire for one another. In other words, they were dying to make love and hadn't had the opportunity yet and it was driving them both into this hormonal frenzy. Every time they got the chance to be physical, it was an empassioned kiss or a hurried petting session because something was always interrupting them.

"Siobhan, if you want, you can go ahead and go now. It's pretty dead and I can handle it."

"Angela. I love you and I owe you ... big time." Siobhan was so excited that she threw her arms around Angela, the other bartender, hugging her tightly and giving her a big kiss on the cheek, which brought forth various hoots, hollers, and catcalls from the peanut gallery.

"Don't worry about it. Go have a good time."

She made quick work of splitting the tips and grabbing her things, bolting out the door, hand-in-hand with Carmen. They sped to the first motel they could find, one that was barely a step up from a Motel 6. They didn't care. After checking in and pulling around to the room, they raced to the door, to open the door, and their arms were immediately around one another, the heat thick between them.

"Von, Babe, stop." he garbled upon her lips.

"Huh? What?" she responded, heady from desire.

"This is our first time. I want us to remember everything."

"I deserve a try, honey, just once ..." She quietly sang along with the song, remembering that glorious first night ... and all the nights after ...

He set her down gently on the bed; and, for the life of her, she couldn't recall what the room looked like, it was that nondescript. He got down on his knees before her, positioning himself between her legs and he took her face in his strong hands.

"There's something I've been wanting to say to you." he began, and she'd swear that she saw his eyes just beginning to fill with tears.

"Baby, what is it?" she choked, getting emotional herself, thinking that something was terribly wrong. She entwined her fingers in his hair, bringing her face a mere breath away from his.

"Siobhan Evangeline O'Reardon ..."

"Oh Jesus!" she gasped, her eyes growing wide.

With a smile, he began again, "Siobhan Evangeline O'Reardon. I've never before met a woman like you; and, even though we've only been together a short time, I've fallen in love with you."

"You ... did ... what?" she said, her voice breaking, tears streaming down her face.

Adding his own tears, he expressed himself more clearly, "I love you. More than I ever thought I could love someone."

Rendered speechless, she did the only thing she could think of to let him know how she felt: she pulled his lips to hers and kissed him, gently at first, then growing deeper. They wrapped their arms around each other, their tongues probing, tasting, and exploring.

Groaning, she broke the kiss to look him square in the eyes, "Carmen James Carvahlo, I love you too." she sobbed and this time his mouth found hers and there was no doubt that, no matter what happened that night and no matter the speed or leisure with which they came together, neither one of them would ever forget this night. Ever ...
