Crash Into Me

Chapter 7

As the days went by, AJ got bolder and bolder. He began leaving notes for Kelly. Notes telling her how much he loved her. Telling her how he wanted to be with her. How he thought they belonged together. Kelly returned to her apartment one day to find two dozen red roses sitting outside her door with a note that said "Forever" attached. Her hands were shaking as she carried them inside. She walked to the sink and, one by one, put them down the garbage disposal. He was really freaking her out. He was scary. She didn't know what to do, though. Like the police would believe that AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys was stalking her. Who would believe a crazy story like that? Also, she didn't want to turn the police department's attention in her direction for any reason whatsoever. She sighed as she went into her room. She sniffed the air. There was something... strange... different. AJ... she smelled his cologne. Fear gripped her in it's cold hand, until she felt like she was suffocating. Her heart was racing as she checked under her bed and in her closet. He wasn't there now, but he had been... She knew he had been in her apartment.

Kelly didn't sleep that night. She lay awake in bed, tossing and turning, every so often thinking she heard someone trying to get into her room.

I'm losing my mind, she thought. I'm seriously losing my mind. I can't live like this.

She got up and started packing her things in any available container she could find. She was moving. Somewhere far away. Somewhere where Mr. McLean would never find her. By the time the sun came up, Kelly's clothes were all packed, and she was on the phone with moving companies making arrangements to have her furniture picked up. She didn't know where she was going, but she was going. She walked out to her car to go look for houses, and she stopped dead in her tracks. She swallowed the lump in her throat and faught back the tears. Her car... her new car... was demolished. The windshield was caved in. the hood looked like it had been jumped on by an elephant. And spraypainted all over in bright red paint was one word... repeated over and over... WHORE.

"Miss Ashton, do you have any idea who might have done this?" Officer Rogers asked, taking notes on his little pad. He was the same officer who had responded to her accident with AJ just a few weeks earlier. He didn't mention it, so she guessed he didn't recognize her.

Kelly contemplated her response. If she told him she knew it was AJ, would he believe her? Probably not. Nobody would.

"No. No, I have no idea," she said quietly, hugging her arms around her body. She shivered, but it wasn't cold out. She was scared.

"Alright then," the officer said, shaking his head. "I'm sorry about the car. Did you ever get it fixed from that wreck?"

"Excuse me?"

"The wreck you had with that Backstreet Boy a few weeks ago. Did you ever get the car fixed after that?" he asked, a slight smile on his face.

"Yeah, but I don't guess that matters now, does it?" she replied sadly.

"Guess not. Well, you try to have a nice day, Miss Ashton. I'll have your report ready in a few days."

"Thank you, officer, " Kelly said, swallowing hard as she surveyed the damage once more. It was totalled. There was no way this car could be fixed. And even if they did fix it, she couldn't drive it. It was just too creepy. She felt violated.

She went back into her apartment and called Enterprise. They said they'd have a rental car out to her within an hour or so. The next call she made was to her friend, Sammi. Sammi was an escort like Kelly, except Sammi's clientele was strictly female. They had met a year earlier at a gym, and when they found they had so much in common, it was obvious they would be best friends. Kelly knew Sammi had a crush on her, but so far, she had never made a move on her.

"Hey Kel, what's up?" Sammi asked cheerfully.

"He trashed my car," Kelly sighed.

"He did WHAT?"

"He trashed my car. Demolished it. We're talking beyond repair here, Sammi," Kelly said, pulling her knees to her chest.

"That pigbastardsonofabitch!" Sammi exclaimed. "You know you can't let him get away with this!"

"What am I gonna do? Tell the cops 'oh yeah, AJ McLean trashed my car. You know, the Backstreet Boy?'. God, Sammi, they'd never believe me. And he probably had somebody else do it anyway," Kelly sighed.

"I'm so sorry, sweetie," Sammi said quietly.

"But... one good piece of news. I'm moving. I'm going to get out of this place, so maybe he won't be able to find me."

"Come live with me," Sammi blurted. "You know Christopher and I will take care of you."

Christopher was Sammi's Bull Mastiff. He easily weighed 200lbs, and he didn't like men. He was viscious when any man came into Sammi's house.

"Thanks for the offer, Sam, but you know I can't," Kelly laughed. "I've got to have a place of my own. I can't stand being crowded."

"I know. But the offer stands if you ever decide to take me up on it."

"Well, I've gotta run. The Enterprise people are here with my rental," Kelly said.

"Ok. Love you, sweetie," Sammi said.

"Love you too."

Kelly walked over to the door and opened it. She looked in confusion at the dark haired woman who stood in her doorway.

"LEAVE MY BOYFRIEND ALONE!" the woman screamed.

"What are you talking about?" Kelly asked, taken aback.

"Leave AJ alone!! He's mine, and I won't have you trying to get your disgusting claws in him!"

"Excuse me?? I have no interest in AJ McLean. If he's your boyfriend, you might want to keep him on a short leash, because he's the one bothering ME, not the other way around, honey," Kelly exclaimed.

"That's not what he said," the woman chuckled evilly. "He said you were chasing him and that you were in love with him."

"Listen, he's a liar. I don't want him. You can have that maniac. He's a real nutcase, and from what I see, you two are a perfect match!" Kelly screamed, slamming the door in her face.

She walked to her bedroom and collapsed on the bed, covering her face with her hands. Ohhhh she had to get out of there and away from that man. As soon as the rental car company delivered her car, she took off in search of a new place to live.

"Thanks guys," Kelly said to the movers. "I really appreciate you coming on such short notice."

"No problem, ma'am," the sweet faced older man said, smiling. "We aim to please."

Kelly helped them move the boxes into the moving truck. She was ready to get out as fast as possible. She had found a rental house on the lake for a reasonable price. It was quiet, and almost deserted during the off season. Perfect place to run and hide, she thought.

AJ stared at the window at the moving van, and his eyes narrowed in anger. She thought she could run from him? No fucking way. He loved her, and he was going to make her understand that. She just didn't realize how much he cared for her. How much he needed to be with her. He could feel himself growing hard as he watched her carrying boxes onto the truck. He would have her again. He had to have her again. He had to possess her body again. His thoughts were interrupted by his cell phone.

"Hello?"

"AJ, where are you?" Sarah asked impatiently. "You were supposed to pick me up an hour ago."

"Sorry," he said quietly. "I just got tied up. I'll be there in a little while, ok?"

"Ok, but this is the last time. I mean it. Either you shape up, or I'm dumping your ass. First you move to Atlanta, which I still don't understand. Now you're being irresponsible and standing me up all the time. I'm getting sick of this shit, AJ," she grouched.

"Alright, alright. I'll be there in a few minutes. Sheesh. Stop your bitching."

She hung up on him. Bitch. It was time he got rid of her. She was getting on his nerves. She had been bugging the shit out of him for sex recently, but he just couldn't do it. He couldn't cheat on Kelly. He loved Kelly too much for that. He'd fuck Nick when he needed to get laid, but no other women. No other woman could compare to his beloved Kelly.

He wrote down the name of the moving company for later use. He had to go get Sarah now. Damn her.

"Atlantic Moving and Storage, Yolanda speaking."

"Hi, this is Mike Yarbrough," AJ lied. "Listen, you guys moved a neighbor of mine a few days ago. Kelly Ashton is her name. Can you pull that up on your computer?"

"Yes sir, how can I help you," the woman replied.

"Well, her cat ran away a few weeks ago, but he turned up on my doorstep this morning. Now I don't have any way to get in touch with her to return him. Could you give me an address or a phone number so I can get this little guy back to her?" AJ said, proud of himself for making up such a story.

"Let me check... I don't have a new phone number for her, but her new address is 2 Wisteria Lane. Does that help?"

"That's exactly what I needed," AJ said, smiling as he wrote down the address. "Thank you so much."

"You're welcome, sir. I'm sure she'll be glad to have that kitty back."

"Yeah, me too," AJ laughed.
