epilogue

As the plane taxied down the run way, it’s blinking lights growing smaller and smaller, Howie
leaned against the glass and watched Theresa's plane leave. He hadn’t been the same since she had left him that
night. He had told her he was lonely as an excuse for having a one night stand, when in fact he
was grasping for a way to push her away. He had told her that being with her was only
because he was lonely, making it seem that she too was just a fling. Nothing could have been
farther from the truth, as the feeling he had felt when he was with her were so powerful, so
unexpected that it had scared him to death. In a moment of panic he had done the worst thing
possible. Instead of giving into the emotions, he had pushed them away, in turn pushing away
the first woman he had ever truly loved.

He had lied and said he was lonely, and now he truly was.
