Second Chances

AJ was surrounded by throngs of reporters. The concert was over and it had been a huge success. The other guys stood by with huge grins on their faces. This was HIS moment, and they couldn’t have been happier for him.

Out of the corner of his eye, Brian saw a little girl heading towards AJ. She was carrying one perfect white rose. She tugged on his pant leg , and he bent down to her, removing his sunglasses.

“Hello there sweetheart. That’s a very pretty flower. Is that for me?” AJ smiled at her as she nodded shyly and handed him the rose. “What’s your name?”

“Melissa.” She reached out to him and embraced him in a huge hug. AJ was stunned. “I am very proud of you for not giving up.”

AJ held tightly to the little girl. Suddenly, all of the emotions that he had been holding in broke free. He couldn’t help himself. Once the tears started, there was no way that he could stop them. He could see the flashes going off and knew that the reporters were taking pictures of him like this, but he just didn’t care.

“Did I do something bad?” Melissa asked innocently. “I didn’t mean to make you cry.”

“No, honey. You didn’t do anything bad. These are happy tears. I’m happy that you are proud of me.”

She looked at him skeptically, “You’re sure?”

“Uh huh,” he said, giving her a peck on the cheek.

She smiled at him. “Ok. I have to go now. My mommy is waiting for me. Bye, AJ.”

He grinned at her. “You’re a cutie. Thank you for the flower. Good-bye, Melissa.”

AJ walked over to the guys. “Wasn’t she adorable?”

They all agreed that she was, except for Brian. He was staring off into space. He was very pale…..as if he had seen a ghost or something.

“Hey Rok, you ok man?” Nick asked, waving his hand in Brian’s face.

“Huh? Yeah, yeah, I’m great……just great.” He said distractedly. “Let’s go celebrate.”

Hours later, Brian was still in shock. It happened just like Jenn said it would. How could she have known??? Somehow she’d known. He had to see her again. Talk to her. This was crazy. There was no way that she could actually be from the future. It just wasn’t possible. Was it?????
