Spellbound
chapter 1
Your eyes will only see me
The wind will whisper my name
And the touch of any other woman
just won’t be the same
You’ll hunger for my touch
my lips you’ll long to kiss
I call upon all great powers
this is my wish, this is my wish
Avery closed her eyes and took a deep breath, focusing all of her energy outward. She picked up a photograph and stared at it, studying the lines of his face, the deep brown of his eyes, the fullness of his lips. Carefully she held the match to the photograph, allowing one corner to catch fire. She watched as the smoke curled up, the image on the paper turning various shades of orange before fading to black. The ashes fell into a small clay mortar. She picked up another photograph, one of herself and stared at it, studying the blue of her eyes, the way her red hair seemed to glow, the sad smile on her face. Again she held a match to the corner, and watched as the photograph burned and the ashes fell into the tiny bowl.
Your thoughts shall become my thoughts
Your love as strong as mine
Our souls will blend together
Our hearts will intertwine
You will never love another
All past loves will be undone
I call upon all great powers
it will be done, it will be done
Using a small pestle and slowly grinding the ashes together Avery smiled to herself. She added a several drops of clove oil and carefully mashed the ashes and oil together to make a thick paste. Still smiling she picked up a tiny violet colored velvet bag and pulled at the gold ribbon that held the top closed. She took a deep breath and shook the bag, the contents falling into her other hand. A thick tarnished silver band fell out followed by a thinner matching band that shimmered.. She stared down at the two rings of metal, rolling them around in her hand. An intricate design of symbols wrapped around each ring. She slipped the smaller ring onto her finger and smiled as it fit her perfectly. She dipped a soft cloth into the black paste and began to polish the tarnished ring
This ring upon your finger
My every wish shall be
I call upon the mighty powers
to make you love only me
heated passion from the sun
fluid emotions from the sea
I call upon all great powers
It shall be, it shall be
With her lips against the now sparkling ring, Avery lifted her head upwards, letting her head fall back. A million thoughts of him filled her mind as she dropped the ring back into the velvet bag and tied the gold ribbon to close it. With slightly trembling hands she took a small piece of parchment paper and wrote upon it before fastening it to the ribbon.
“To Howie, from an admiring fan”
