It seemed to me and my friend Lori, that we had a bad year as far as our luck with men were concerned. We were were ready for change. In hopes of doing just that we had joined a travel group where we joined with others taking trips. The next trip involved many outdoor activities including camping. Not since we were children had either one of us been camping. We knew we didn't want to appear as green horns on this trip. That's when we decided we needed to practice our outdoor skills.

That week we borrowed two tents and bought some things that the stores camping expert had recommended we would need for two camp sites. We would be in the boonie parts of the campgrounds where the loners and professionals go to be alone with nature. That's right we got the bright idea we would each try it on our own. We would be in hiking distance from each other; but agreed we would not help the other unless an emergency arose. We would have cell phones in toll. It would be like a fun contest to see who could manage the best on their own. We had even made a trip to the public library where we scanned an outdoors book that had instructions on setting up a good camp site. We felt we were all ready. RIGHT!

The weekend came and off we went to the camp grounds with everything in tow. Our car looked like a camping catalog salesmen vehicle. We decided to take spots on the grounds where the sites were far apart; giving us privacy and a chance to experience it truly on our own. It all looked great, but once we got there we came to the realization that everything had to be carried to our sites. After making what seemed like a zillion trips packing stuff . We said our "see you later" and "good luck" byes to each other.

When I finally got back to my site I was already tired. But looking around I knew I had a lot to do before it got dark. The first job I tried was to get the tent up. I would get one side up and the other side would fall down. Finally I got it to stay up. Though it did look very shaky. Staking up a tent was not my forte. I managed to get other things half way set up before the darkness set in. Darkness came early that night as it was cloudy and looking like rain. I didn't get to starting a campfire started in the rocked off spot where an old looking iron grill sat showing the signs of past campers. It would be cold foods for supper.

As the drops of rain started I went inside my tent to settle down for the night. I decided to turn in early and laid down after turning out the lantern. At least I thought I had a warm cozy sleeping bag to sleep in. However when I got in it the zipper stuck and would not zip up. So I had to make do trying to get it to stay over me. Being a rainy damp night, it was drafty at best. Then suddenly I felt the tent sway as the wind outside started along with the rain. Looking up I expected the tent to fall anytime, which it did. But not before leaking drops of rain right on top of my head. Somehow I managed to get some sleep during the night after moving my sleeping bag and propping up one side of the tent with a stick . It seemed my luck with camping was not turning out any better than my luck with men.

The next morning I got out to find the rain had stopped. But the wind had left my camp site in even worse shape then it had been to begin with. I sighed and decided I needed a walk to clear my head. Hiking was something I did enjoy and was good at. Thats when I heard a bird and looked up toward a large old tree. There sat a beautiful redbird making its tisking sound. Suddenly my eyes were opened as I started looking around at just how pretty it really was there. The sun was shining and the temperature just right. Squirrels were out playing among the trees and more birds began to sing. The air was fresh and clean after the rain. The site could wait. I was here to enjoy this not stress out.

The park site was beautiful. Everything was green and alive. I came back from my hike feeling ready to tackle starting over with the tent when I stopped dead in my tracks. I couldn't believe what I found back at the site.. The tent was sitting tall and tight. Stakes firmly in the ground. Everything had been put back in place better than before. There was even a campfire going ready to heat whatever I wanted to fix for breakfast. This was eerie. Then it hit me Lori must have came to check on me and was being nice. Dang she was being nice. I felt like a camping dork if she had time to do all this and take care of her site too. It was hard to believe that she could do all this so quickly though.

Then I noticed something lying on top of my now zipped up sleeping bag. I went closer to see what it was. It was an index card with some writing on it. Hmm I thought to myself it's a snide note about my lack of camping skills I guess. Laughing I knew I had it coming. I picked it up and starting reading. As I read my eyes widened and my heart raced. I couldn't believe what it said :

When I first noticed you and your friend were here at the camp grounds I thought how lucky I was to be here this weekend too. I had planned on coming by last night and talking, but the rain storm had other ideas. Hope you don't mind my doing some things for you here. I couldn't pass up helping a damsel in distress. Though I'm sure you could have gotten things together on your own eventually. Enjoy yourself out here while the weather is nice. It might rain some more tonight. Sincerely, Kevin

My first thought was this had to be a joke. But I had never mentioned to Lori how I really felt about Kevin after he joined our camping group. He was gorgeous. The kind of man I could only dream about. Sweet and easy going he seemed to be everything I always wanted in a guy. He even was from the same state my family was from. But he was famous and talented -way out of my reach. I decided I wasn't going to get my hopes up and take this just as a joke. Maybe Lori had noticed me eyeing him or something.

I sat awhile taking in the beauty of the place. I looked up at a large old tree where a redbird sat on a branch making it's tsking noise. Squirrels were playing around . Watching the birds and squirrels I realized and remembered how much I had actually enjoyed camping like this as a child. It was rather relaxing to be all alone and having a chance to just sit, listen and watch the wildlife around.

That afternoon at dusk I was sitting and thinking how a camping trip would be a nice outing for our group to take. That's when I noticed how dark it had suddenly become. Looking up towards the sky I could see it was going to be a stormy night. I put up some things and headed inside my tent. I also wondered how Lori was doing with our - turned out to be rainy weekend.

I read a book awhile I had thankfully brought with me. Then decided to call it a night. I turned off the lantern and laid down. That's when I first heard the thunder and saw flashes of light through the cloth walls of my tent. Suddenly feeling very alone, I pulled up the bed roll to cover all of me up to my eyes. Thinking to myself , "Boy did we know how to pick a weekend for camping."

I could hear the wind getting up now and thanking Lori in my mind for tightening up my tent.
Then I heard a noise outside my tent. At first I kept telling myself it was just the wind blowing something around. But then a large shadow fluttered across a wall of my tent making my heart stall as thoughts of bears or some other menace might be right outside my flimsy abode.
I grabbed a stick and sit breathlessly still as the shadow continue to move and come closer to my cloth doorway. To my surprise though it did not come tearing through it. Instead I heard the doorway zipper being unzipped. That's when visions of maniacs instead of wildlife starting coming to mind. I stood up clinching harder to my stick and getting ready to swing. As they stepped in I swung hard as I could, breaking the stick in the process. I heard a gasp and thud as my intruder landed on the ground on their knees.

I started to make a run for to the outside when I heard a very out of breath deep voice say, " Please wait, I'm not here to hurt you." The voice made me stop. Something familiar about it. It made me pause and I found myself turning on the lantern instead of running.

Looking down and clutching his stomach was a very wet Kevin. My mouth dropped open. Then realizing what I had down I went down to him and reached out to him. I kept telling him how sorry I was as I tried to look at the damage I had done. Placing his head in my lap I gently lifted up his shirt where he had be grasping. I cringed when I saw there was already a bad bruise starting. Thats when I noticed he was shivering. I grabbed a towel and tried to dry off his face and hair the best I could. He smiled meekly at me and told me he just had to come and see that I was alright in the storm. However I could still see pain in his eyes and his body shivering. That's when I knew I needed to get him warm. He did not protest as I started helping him undress. I tried to help him dry off ; while trying not to let my eyes give away my pleasure of seeing his incredible body in the process. I felt awful when I looked at the bad bruise on his stomach again. I touched it gently with my hand feeling his stomach jerk a bit as I did. He said he would be okay, but he was still shivering.

Looking up at those mesmerizing eyes of his I realized he stood a full foot taller over me. Standing close he towered over me making me feel very small and vulnerable. But it was in a nice way since I knew I had nothing to fear from this man. There was a gentleness to Kevin that made me feel very safe with him.

I led him to my bed roll where I had him lay down and cover up. He laid there a moment as I tried to spread out his clothes to dry. When I looked back over at him he seemed to be breathing better but still shivering. It was then he told me he would be warmer if I joined him. My face blushed and normally I would shy away from a sudden request like that. But instead I went over and sat down by him.

Maybe I was still feeling guilty about hurting him. Maybe I was afraid of him ending up with pneumonia if I didn't get him warm. Maybe my real feelings for this man were coming out. Whatever the reasons I knew I needed to join him. He shuddered again, violently this time. Making me realize then what I needed to do. I stood up not looking at him, since I knew I might lose my nerve if I did. I began undressing. Feeling his eyes on me the whole time I found myself shaking now. But it wasn't from being cold.

When done I laid down next to him with my back to him. His arm went around me as it was a tight fit in a sleeping bag meant for one. It felt so good to be next this man. My heart was having a definite feeling of rightness about it. We snuggled that way for a long while. The feel and scent of him were starting to overtake my senses when I began to feel his body shaking again. I told him he was still cold. So I turned over to face him. Looking into his eyes a moment I then reached up and took his face into my hand. He leaned his lips into mine placing a slow lingering kiss there. Something made me take his head to my chest. I began rubbing his back and placed a kiss on top of his forehead. Then I found myself whispering to him how sorry I was I had caused him so much trouble. Holding him close and telling him it would be alright now. As we laid there talking about everything and getting to know more about each other; I finally began to feel the tension and shivering ease from his body.

Later in the night after dozing awhile I fully awoke to find Kevin looking at me. I turned over and under him. He let his body weigh down on me. He felt incredible. His skin was a pleasing mixture of smooth and rough against mine. I ran my hand across his cheek as his lips took mine. My heart raced as he slide his hand between my legs. As his hand rubbed my inner thigh, his lips gently kissed my neck. He pulled my legs around his waist. One hand went deeper between my legs and began to gently stroke my spot of pleasure making me softly moan. His other hand grasped my behind pulling me upward to him. The stroking developed into a slow constant rhythm as the burning within me begin to build. Relaxing now my legs and mouth opened further for him ; longing for him to go deeper within me. Then his mouth went lower and started taking turns sucking each of my nipples making them peak hard against his chest. The burning sensation grew as his hand worked harder to please me making me wet and throbbing. Finally bringing me to a welcome climax I moaned and kissed him greedily. Still wanting more I found my legs and hands wrapping around his back now. My body rubbed against him begging him not to stop. He slowly pushed his hardness into me. Taking me gently at first as if teasing me; he hesitated and did not go fully in. He whispered to me was I sure and when I said I was he pushed in hard and fast making me gasp as he did. My moans became louder as his pace quickened and his thrusts became rough and deep. I climaxed a second time as he came for the first time within me. Exhausted he rolled over pulling me on top of him this time. This time he held me cuddling my face to his chest and stroking my back with his large , now gentle hands.

It felt so warm, snug and safe there with him. As we talked the storm died down and we drifted off to sleep. Sometime the next morning I awoke to find Kevin behind me again. His arm around my waist holding me snuggly. I felt his chest breathing in and out. His warm breath on my neck. He felt so good against my back I could have laid there like there all day. Then it hit me as I looked over at my watch lying on the ground. I was suppose to have met Lori over two hours ago. It was a wonder she hadn't called or came all the way over here to my site. Thinking she was probably on her way over now I knew I had better call her. I stretched as far as I could trying not to disturb Kevin who seemed to be still sleeping. But the phone was out of my reach. Just as I started to get up, Kevin spoke into my ear, "Where you going in such a hurry? I want you to hold you for a while longer."

I turned my head around to look at him and told him about Lori. But he still did not let go of me. Holding me tight around my waist he just stared at me smiling broadly.

"What?" I asked looking at his smile.

"There's no need to be in a hurry. I doubt Lori is," he replied.

"You know something I don't?" I asked him.

Still sporting a huge grin he replied, "I didn't come camping alone. My friend Howie came with me and he has been doing everything for Lori I tried to do for you. And since she hasn't showed up I'd say they are in no hurry to leave either."

I stopped trying to get up and froze as what he said started to sink in. Then sporting a big grin on my face as I thought about Howie and Lori ; I nuzzled back into Kevin's arms.
