Chapter 10

It was Topaz' last day in LA. She and Aj hadn't spoken since the day they had gone to the hospital together. She knew he needed time. So she was determined to give it to him. She just wasn't sure how much time she had left. She looked around her motel room making sure she hadn't missed anything. It was empty. She stared at the bed and thought about the night she and Aj had slept there together. He had made her feel so safe. She just wondered if she would ever feel like that again.

Topaz grabbed her suitcase and headed for the door. She opened it up and was surprised to see Aj standing there.

"What are you doing?" She asked, feeling the tears begin to well up in her eyes.

"I couldn't let you go....without seeing you one last time before you left." He said looking deep into her eyes. He was blocking the doorway so she couldn't pass through even if she wanted to.

"Alex, I can't change things. I know I've hurt you, and for that I am eternally sorry. I promise I won't bother you again after all is said and done." She babbled on, the tears were falling steadily down her face now. She couldn't bear to look at him, so she stared at the floor instead.

He reached underneath her chin and made her look at him, "Topaz, I meant what I said that day at the restaraunt. I've fallen for you, and...if this little girl is mine, you'll be seeing alot more of me I can guarantee that." He took her face in his hands and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.

She stopped him. "I have to go....my flight leaves in 45 minutes."

"Let's take a cab to the airport then."He offered, grabbing her by one hand and picking up her suitcase with the other.

******** Traffic was heavy on their way to the airport and by the time they arrived Topaz had 10 minutes to catch her flight.

Aj stood next to her at the gate, "I love you." he said giving her the biggest hug of her life.

She had wanted to say it for so long, and now she had her chance, "I love you too, Alex. I'll call you when I get there."

She picked up her carryon and walked toward the gate, turning around one last time to wave at him.

He watched her walk away with tears welling up in his eyes.
