Glimpse of Summer

Glimpse of Summer

Through slate clouds
and week-old snow,
excitement muscles its way
to his eyes and fingertips
and is planted under my skin.

Stubborn grass pokes through
in patches beneath his window.
We lay in the warmth of his bed
and he talks of lemonade days.

Tonight, cool water on bare skin
replaces rushing over snow--
June moonlight on nakedness and
onyx between a scattering of pearls.

Scents of grass and chlorine
fill my nose until
a kiss pulls me back.
It's snowing.
