Love, Light and Water
Topic: Michael Stribling
Michael Stribling (born 1951) is an award-winning American musician, best known for his series of New Age albums. His debut New Age album, “Songs of Hope and Healing,” was named Best Electronic Album of 2006 by New Age Reporter. "Love, Light, and Water" is Michael Stribling's fourth CD to date. Stribling is not unique in his musical quest to soothe and heal, but one of the things that sets him apart from many of the other composers in this genre is that his music is not all sunshine and puffy clouds—he allows some of the darker and more pensive aspects of life into his music, which is a more realistic picture of the human experience. The music on this album is divided into three suites that "celebrate the hope and promise of new love, the energizing beauty of light, and the sustaining power of water." Although the music is often quite orchestrated, Stribling creates all of his music himself on keyboards. Some of it is quite melodic, and other pieces are more ambient and atmospheric—all of it is very beautiful.

Gagnon played the piano as a child and began writing short pieces at six. In 1969 André Gagnon gave up accompanying to devote himself to a career as soloist, composer, and arranger. Gagnon developed a large following in Japan and recorded and re-released many albums for the Japanese market under the RCA Victor label, during the next 15 years. He first toured that country in 1991, returning seven times 1996-2003. He recorded his Noël album with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra in 1992, and collaborated again in 1994 with the National Philharmonic Orchestra, recording Romantique.

Nominated "Best New Age Song" ONE SKY at 7th annual Independent Music Awards

The Debut CD, A RUMOR OF THE SUN is a musical collage of settings focusing on the haunting voice of the Native American Flute. This beautiful instrument blends itself seamlessly into the worlds of jazz, ambient, and meditative, ranging from contemplative melodies to rhythmically charged improvisations. A native of the Pacific Northwest, Bill draws influence from many musical worlds, including classical, jazz, and commercial. An award-winning composer and arranger, his music has been featured in jazz festivals and the concert stage both here and abroad. A lifelong fascination with indigenous music and an interest to connect with his own distant heritage ultimately led him to the Native American flute. Influenced by masters like R. Carlos Nakai, he began incorporating the traditions of the flute into the harmonic and rhythmic structures of jazz and contemporary classical music.

American Piano Solo Music that is beautiful, melodic and allows a user the ability to enter a place of introspection. Dixon R. Doll, Jr’s appreciation for piano solo music and one of the genre’s top producers began in 1987, when Doll attended a concert of famed pianist George Winston. Although he had not played the piano since childhood, he was inspired to begin playing again immediately, and released his first album, In the Dark only five years later in 1992. His debut album was the beginning of a long, ongoing collaboration with George Winston’s producer, Howard Johnston. Recorded in San Francisco, Ten Years will feature 13 new songs. Fans of Dixon Doll, Jr., are drawn to his emotionally illustrative, impressionistic compositions, and Ten Years surely will not disappoint them. After addressing themes such as growing older and leaving home in earlier albums, Ten Years is dedicated to the memory of a close friend who passed away from cancer. Dixon R Doll, Jr., has kept fans of contemplative music in delicious anticipation long enough. AMAZON SALESROOM

SHADES AND PERSPECTIVES is a musical topographical experience which is intriguing and penetrating. It is powerful, but also vulnerably intimate. Her music leaves the listener wrapped in an audio world of brilliantly colored sonorities of the soul. Born in Los Angeles, California, Catherine Towbin started composing and playing the piano at age seven. Except for some brief exposure to various musical sources, she was largely self taught until the age of twelve. She then began her formal piano studies with Leah Effenbach with whom she studied for five years. Leah Effenbach was a graduate of piano of both The Peabody Institute and The Julliard. From 1982 until 1986 Catherine attended Samford University where she studied both music and chemistry. She graduated with honors and received the Bachelor Of Music Degree. Throughout her college education she studied piano with Witold Turkiewicz who is a former student of Rudolph Serkin at The Curtis Institute Of Music. Catherine won the 1984 Concerto-Aria competition with the Khachaturian D-flat piano concerto and performed with The Alabama Symphony Orchestra. She was the alternative winner of the 1985 Concerto-Aria competition with the Beethoven Third piano concerto in c minor. In 1986 Catherine went to France where she performed and accompanied soloists. Since then she has also performed in the United States, The Netherlands, Belgium and Romania. Catherine moved to Europe in 1991 and currently lives in Belgium. Catherine's music has a visual element and is accessible to both the intellectually discriminating listener as well as the spiritually intuitive listener. Although Catherine is a contemporary composer, she does not feel a specific need to be exclusively identified with the more typical techniques of this period. "It is not my desire to write music that could potentially push a borderline schizophrenic over the edge into a full blown episode just to make my artistic statement. I also don't believe in being a rebel without a cause. I just create music that in my own way brings people to a place inside themselves that they perhaps wouldn't otherwise experience.I use whatever tools necessary to achieve my artistic goal."

Now Playing: The Tide's In
Topic: Brian Rolland
Composer/Guitarist Brian Rolland returns with a brand new album on the heels of the success of 'Dreams of Brazil' (also available) in 2006. 'The Tide's In' expands on his acclaimed WorldJazz feel with more vocals, richer drums and percussion, and the same subtle, vibrant guitar virtuosity that is renowned worldwide. Brian Rolland is a native son of Cambridge MA, where he drank in a wide range of music in his youth. Blues and folk greats like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Tom Rush who he heard very early on at the Club 47 in the '60s, the constant stream of New York Jazz greats like Miles Davis, Weather Report and Keith Jarrett through the Jazz Workshop, Greater Boston's exceptional classical music, and a rock scene that created The J. Geils Band and Aerosmith were his creative influences, along with Jobim, Milton Nascimento, and a host of others.
