Now Playing: Triumph of the Spirit
Topic: Jeffrey Fisher

Jeffrey Fisher is a very talented composer, but also a highly respected spiritual teacher, Tai Chi master and painter. His album "Triumph of the Spirit" is inspiring and enlightening. "Triumph of the Spirit" marked an evolution in Jeffrey Fisher's career as a composer, presenting music born of an unprecedented collaboration with Taos, NM-based painter Charles Collins and his "Between Worlds" collection of paintings. With this album, Fisher delivers five breathtaking works, including the title song "Triumph of the Spirit", creating symphonic poetry, enlivening Collin's paintings with sound.

Topic: Jeffrey Fisher
While composer Jeffrey A. Fisher’s upbringing in the greater Palm Springs area was modest, it was clear to everyone around him that his life would be anything but ordinary. Even as a toddler, his desire and ability to focus on practicing art and music foretold the beginnings of the modern-day Renaissance man he is today.

Over the past 500 years, there is a tradition that many classical music compositions are the soundtrack to a story, a person or a place -- Peter and the wolf, the Blue Danube, the rodeo, the devil, etc. Following this path is Jeffrey Fisher, who composed and performed the new CD FAIRY TALES, is based on the old tales for children written by Hans Christian Andersen.

Of course, as with so much contemporary music, Fisher created the music on a synthesizer, but the instrumental sounds re-create a full traditional symphony orchestra. Fisher strives to capture the moods and personalities of those classic childhood fantasies of Thumbellina (the tiny adventuresome girl), Red Shoes (the selfish dancer) and The Mermaid (who falls in love with a human prince). Fisher's music originally scored a ballet based on these stories.
