  • 26 JUN 2004 CORRADO, Charles Vincent (MARINE Pianist)
    Charles Vincent Corrado was the longest-serving musician in the US Marine Band. He played piano for 10 presidents. He died in Patomac, MD at age 64.

  • 23 JUN 2004 STEIN, Leonard (Pianist, authority on Schoenberg) Leonard Stein, was a pianist and authority on the music of Arnold Schoenberg. He became one of the pre-eminent figures in Los Angeles' musical life. - age 87.

  • 05 JUN 2004 BROWN, Iona (Violinist, Conductor)
    Iona Brown, has died of cancer. She was a central figure in British music-making through playing with, and then directing, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields as it became the world's most recorded chamber orch. b-Salibury, England 7 JAN 1941. d-5 JUN 2004. - age 63.

    Sulamith Messerer, died aged 95, was the Bolshoi Ballet's prima ballerina for more than 20 years and, as a student, ballerina, teacher and choreographer, devoted her life to classical ballet.

    Composer Jonathan Kramer, former professor of composition and theory at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Cincinnati Symphony has passed away at the age of 61.     M. Searle Wright was a composer, teacher and master of both classic and theater pipe organ. - age 86.

    (1929-2004) The Director of Edwin F. Kalmus & Co. Lawrence A Galison, passed away in his sleep. Mr Galison was responsible for the creation of the largest publisher of orchestral music in the world. Under his direction, the firm expanded both the quantity and quality of its catalog to an extent unrivalled in the field of classical music publishing. His son, Leon L Galison, assumes direction of the firm.
