March 20, 2003 - New York, NY - Dharma Moon recording artist Steve Gorn won Best New Age CD for his latest release, Colors Of The Mind (July 31st, 2002), at AFIM's 2003 Indie Awards on March 18th in Orlando, FL as part of the 2003 NARM convention. The Association for Independent Music is the professional trade organization dedicated to insuring the vitality of the independent music industry. Since 1984, the awards have honored many of the best and brightest stars in the independent music industry.
Steve Gorn has performed Indian Classical Music and New American Music on the bansuri bamboo flute, soprano saxophone and clarinet in concerts and festivals throughout the world. Well known to audiences in India and the west, he has been praised by critics and leading Indian musicians as one of the few westerners recognized to have captured the subtlety and beauty of Indian music. Steve Gorn's distinctive flute sound is featured on Paul Simon's CD, You're The One, Krishna Das' Breath of the Heart, Jai Uttal's Shiva Station and Richie Haven's Wishing Well.
