Hope Floats

Birdee Calvert Pruitt, played by Sandra Bullock, is going through a messy divorce, so she takes her daughter Bernice and goes to stay with her mother in Smithville, Tennessee. The whole town knows about her husband's affair with her best friend Connie, and they seem to delight in rubbing it in her face. She meets up with an old boyfriend, Justin Matisse, played by Harry Connick, Jr. He is still in love with her and tries to help her get throught this rough time. To make matters worse, her mother dies, which sends her spiraling into an even deeper depression. Gradually, through the help of Justin and Bernice, she begins to become her old self again. And, she has fallen in love with Justin. This movie is a tear-jerker, so have the kleenex handy.
