Our Little Secret

Chapter 3

It took the girls a few minutes to finally stop screaming, but when they did they still had big smiles on their faces. All the girls who didn’t make the cut had left by now so it was just the five of them, the five other girls, Wade, Becky, Mike, and Jackie that were left in the room.

The ten girls sat against the wall drinking their waters when Wade told them that he was going to go get the guys and then he’d be back. It was now 4:00 PM and everyone was starting to get a little tired, but at the same time they were still pumped with excitement.

Within a few minutes the door to the room opened and in walked Wade who was closely followed by Chris, Lance, Justin, JC, and Joey. The six of them walked over to where the girls were sitting and they all smiled at the girls. Wade stood out in front and the guys stood behind him.

“Ok.” Wade said. “Now the ten of you are going to dance with all of the guys. We’re going to see how well you dance with them, if it looks good, and then on just how well you dance. When Lance, JC, Chris, Joey, Justin, Becky, Jackie, Mike, and myself leave we’re going to pick the final five who are going to be the *NSYNC dancers. You’ll be in their new video along with the dancers for the new tour. Now as far as the decision of who gets picked it’s based on what I mentioned before, but the final decision comes from the guys and whom they want on tour. So now let’s begin with the last part. Any questions?”

“Um..yea” Vanessa said from her spot next to Lacey. “What are the guys basing their decisions on?”

Lance spoke up before Wade or anyone else had a chance. “The same things as Wade and also just who we think are the five best girls and who the guys and myself would feel the most comfortable dancing with and getting along with.”

“Any more questions?” Wade asked. When no one said anything he clapped his hands together. “Ok, so what we’re going to do is I’m going to pick five girls to dance with the guys first and you’re going to dance to “It’s Gonna Be Me” since you learned that earlier. You’ll dance to it five times, each with a different guy. Then once you five are done then the remaining five girls will take their turns. Ok, then lets begin. To start off we have Vanessa and Justin, Tanya and Chris, Trixie and Joey, Megan and Lance, and lastly Lacey and JC. Alright lets have you guys out of the dance floor and you five can just sit against the wall and watch.”

With that the guys and five girls walked over to there spots on the floor. Trixie turned around and made a weird excited face and did a little dance, which cause Sarah, Brittany, and Norchelli to start laughing hysterically.

Megan, the other girls, and the guys all turned around to see what was going on and Trixie stood in her spot pretending like nothing happened, which caused everyone else to let out a little chuckle. Trixie flashed her friends a smile and raised her eyebrows up and down which cause them to burst out again with laughter. She smiled again before turning around to face Joey. She flashed him a smile before she grew serious and prepared herself for what she was about to do.

Megan looked in the mirror at her friends sitting on the floor watching her and waiting for all of them to begin dancing. She caught Norchelli’s eye in the mirror and Norchelli gave her an encouraging smile and the thumbs up. She nodded slightly at her in acknowledgement and returned a small smile.

Soon the music of “It’s Gonna Be Me” filled the room and the ten people began dancing and doing there best to keep up with everyone else and stay on beat.

After about a half hour the five girls had all danced with all the guys and were now exhausted as they slowly sat down on the floor next to the other five girls who were still sitting there.

The guys sat down in front of them with their water bottles and everyone just sat in silence for a few minutes looking around and drinking their water.

After about five minutes Wade stood up and got everyone’s attention. “Ok, you five girls did an excellent job, but now it’s time for the remaining five to dance with each of the guys. So now we have Dayna and Chris, Norchelli and Joey, Sasha and Justin, Brittany and Lance, and lastly Sarah and JC. You’re all going to be doing the same thing as the other girls just did. So lets begin.”

Once again everyone walked to their places and Sarah looked over at Brittany, who was on her left, before snickering and then whispering loudly to Norchelli who was on her right. “Yo Nor Nor! Look at Britters,”

Norchelli turned her head and looked over at Sarah and then past her at Brittany. She giggled and yelled across the room at Brittany. “Hey Britters! You ok over there? You look like you’re about to shit bricks or something!”

Everyone in the room started laughing and then all turned to Brittany to see what her response would be.

Brittany grinned at Norchelli and smiled. “I’m perfectly fine. I just don’t feel too good cause I haven’t eaten in over twenty-four hours so I’m just dying to get outa here and go get some food!”

Every laughed again, but immediately stopped when Wade told everyone to quiet down and get ready to dance. So they all did and soon everyone was working up a sweat, and an appetite, by dancing there hearts out.

Another thirty minutes passed and they were finally done dancing. The girls all collapsed on the floor where they were standing as the guys and Wade left the room and disappeared to go make the final decision on who stays and who doesn’t.

Megan and Trixie walked over to where Brittany, Norchelli, and Sarah were sprawled out on the floor and sat down next to them. They handed the girls their water bottles as they happily took them and began chugging down the water.

“So do you think we all made it?” Sarah asked as she lay on her back and stared up at the ceiling.

Megan shrugged and stared at the floor. “I don’t know. I know that we all tried our hardest and even if we didn’t we can still walk away from here knowing that we gave it our all and did the best we could.”

Trixie nodded in agreement. “Yeah. I second that.”

Norchelli lay on her stomach and looked at her friends. “Yeah, same here. But I guess we’ll find out soon enough huh?”

Brittany groaned and covered her eyes with her arm. “I don’t think I want to find out if I made it or not. Cause I know I’ll just be walking out of here with my tail between my legs in defeat.”

Sarah kicked her friend lightly. “Hey, don’t think like that. You gotta think positive. Even if you don’t you did a damn good job dancing today and you made it farther than a hundred and forty other people. So you should at least be proud of yourself for that.”

Brittany sighed. “I know, but I just know that if I don’t make it I’ll be really sad. I’ve never wanted anything in my life more than I want this. This has been my dream and I’ve worked my whole life for this right here.”

Megan nodded in agreement. “I hear ya. I totally know and understand where you’re coming from. I think everyone here knows how you feel. We’re all here because we love to dance and we’ve never wanted anything else than to do this in our lives.”

Everyone was silent as they all sat and thought about everything. They were all hoping that they’d get the job and that they wouldn’t be alone. None of them wanted to go into this alone, they all wanted at least one of there friends to make it with them, if not all. It was a while before anyone said anything, although none of them minded the silence at all. It was nice and relaxing.

Trixie looked around at her friends who all looked like they were deep into thought. She knew what they were thinking about without even having to ask. It was the same thing that she’d been thinking about. But as she looked at them, she could see the doubt on there faces and decided to say something. “Hey how about after this we all go out and get something to eat. Maybe we can go check out that new karaoke bar that just opened. I heard that it’s really cool and there are a lot of hot guys there. We can all go, get some grub, get up and sing karaoke, dance, and the winner gets there dinner paid for by the losers. The winner can be based on the amount of applause. What do you girls say?”

They all looked up and smiled a little at her. They could use a night of fun and just hang out with each other. Plus it did sound like fun.

Sarah laughed. “I’m so in!”

Megan laughed to and looked around at her friends. “Count me in.”

Norchelli sat there for a minute and looked as if she was in deep thought before she smiled and looked up at them. “Hell yeah you can count me in!”

They all turned to Brittany to see what her response was. She had to get home afterwards for her sister. She had told her sister that she’d come home afterwards and tell her everything, but as she looked around at her new friends she figured that her sister could wait. Tonight she was going to go out and have fun. Something she hadn’t done in a long time. “Why the hell not?! I’ll go.”

The girls all cheered and began talking excitedly as they planned the rest of the night’s events and even the next days. They were all happy and excited that they were going to get to hang out afterwards and for the time being all there thoughts and worries about whether they made it or not were forgotten.

A few minutes later the door to the room opened and in walked Wade, JC, Lance, Joey, Chris, and finally Justin. Everyone is the room suddenly became silent. This was it, this was the moment they’d been waiting for. The final five girls were going to be announced. Those five girls would be in the guys next video, go on tour with them, and become the *NSYNC dancers. Everyone’s focus and main attention was on the six men as they walked up to the ten girls and stood in front of them.

“Well…” Wade began, as he looked every single girl in the eyes. “This is the moment that you’ve all been waiting for. The final five girls who’ve made the final cut. I have to say first that you all did an outstanding job and the guys and myself were highly impressed. This decision was not an easy one. Especially this time. I have never had a harder time picking out just five girls, cause If I could I would pick all of you, but that’s just not possible. So even if you didn’t make it I want you to know that you did an awesome job and I hope to see more of you in the future. I hope to someday go to a concert and see you up on that stage dancing your heart out like you did today. You all deserve the very best and should never give up on your dreams. Keep going, Don’t let this discourage you. So I want to thank ya’ll for coming out and I know that you probably want me to stop talking and just list the girls who made it, am I right?” He was met with ten nods and he smiled at them before he began reading off the names of the five girls who made it. “Megan Mathia, Norchelli Camacho, Trixie Manning, Brittany Thompson, and Sarah Robson. Congratulations to you five girls and as for the rest of you I wish the very best for you.”

The girl’s eyes all went wide with shock. They’d done it. They’d really done it. They made the final cut. They were now the *NSYNC dancers. But they didn’t do it alone. Or even with only one or two of there friends. All of there friends had done it. They’d all made it together. As a group. They weren’t going on this adventure and this ride on there own.

“Oh my god.” Brittany put both her hands over her mouth and turned to look at Norchelli. “ I did it, we did it! Oh my god! Wow! This is so awesome!”

The other girls were too saying the same thing as Brittany. The guys and Wade all smiled as they watched the girls begin to jump up and down with excitement, while the other five girls packed up there stuff, congratulated the girls, and left in defeat.

Sarah turned and looked at Wade. She ran over to him, threw her arms around his neck, and jumped up on him. “Thank you so much Wade! You’re the best cousin! Oh my gosh…this is so awesome! Thank you!”

Wade hugged his cousin back and smiled. He was happy he could make his cousin so happy, but he wasn’t the one who’d done it. It was her. “You’re welcome Sarah. I didn’t pick you just because you’re my cousin though. You know that it’s because you busted your ass and it’s not me you should be thanking. It’s yourself. If you hadn’t worked as hard as you did and you didn’t do as good as you did you wouldn’t be here now.”

“I know. But still thank you!” Sarah said as she let go of Wade and then walked over towards the guys. She gave them each a hug and told them thank you as they told her congratulations.

The other girls followed in pursuit and they too hugged the guys, thanked them, and they told them congratulations.

“So what are you girls doing tonight?” JC asked as they all began to pack up there stuff. “Do you want to go out and celebrate? You could maybe hang out with the guys and myself that way we can all get to know a little bit about each other.”

The girls all looked at each other with knowing looks and with there eyes alone decided on what they were going to do.

Norchelli stopped packing her stuff for a minute and turned to look at JC, Lance, Justin, Joey, and Chris. “Acutally we were going to head over to that new karaoke bar that just opened to get some grub and have a little karaoke contest. The person with the most and loudest applause wins and then their dinner is paid for by everyone else. Do you guys want to come along?”

The guys all looked at each other and shrugged. They could go check it out, get to know the girls a little bit, and have some fun.

“We’re in.” Joey said as he spoke for himself and the guys.

“Great.” Norchelli smiled as she and the girls all finished packing up there stuff. “This is going to be fun. We’ll meet you there in fifteen minutes. If you don’t know where it is follow one of us.”

They all nodded and as a group the guys and girls all walked to the exit and then their cars as they knew that tonight was only going to be the beginning of a wild, crazy, fun, and overall good time. Or so they all thought.
