Five guys stood in a cicrle, in an empty hallway that was dimly lit. Nobody was near them for once. It was quite too. No one was smiling, cracking jokes, or talking. They were just thinking about the night that lay ahead of them. The dimly lit hallway represented how they were feeling at that moment. They weren't too happy. They were kind of glum and sad.
As they stood in their circle, they kicked a hackey sack around trying to get their hackey they always had to get before a performance. It had been one of their rituals for 8 years now. Ever since their first performance as a group back in the early days of 1997. They had formed in 1996. It was now 2004.
When they finally got a hackey no one cheered or laughed. They just simply stared at the ground. Finally one of them looked up and stared at his best friends. His brothers. Waiting for one of them to look up too.
Eventually one of them did. Dull crystal blue eyes met dull green eyes. Both used to sparkle with excitment and happiness but they were both dull and sad. They just stared at each other for a few minutes. Neither one saying anything. They didn't need to. They were both feeling and thinking the same thing.
One by one the other three slowly looked up at their best friends and brothers too. They all also looked around slowly and nothing needed to be said. There was nothing to say.
The five men slowly walked over to the side entrance to the stage. They looked at each other before they met in a long group hug. They stood there for a while. None of them wanting to let go. This was it. Their last group hug.
They only parted when they were literally pulled apart by their stage manager who was telling them to get into place because the show was about to start.
They each looked at each other sadly and took their places waiting for the concert to begin. And then end one last time.
When they heard the opening chords to the latest and last single they stood ready...waiting for their que to go out their and perform just like they had for the past 7 or 8 years.
All five of them plastered smiles on their faces and ran out onto the stage and began singing and dancing.
Each and everyone of the guys looked around as they danced and looked at the huge crowd that had come to watch them perform. They were performing in a pretty large stadium in Florida. There was an estimated 150,000 fans their that night.
The sreaming was louder than it had ever been before. Each and everyone of them wanting to be heard one lasttime before the five guys were gone.
The guys went through their normal concert. The same songs they's been doing for that whole tour. Some old songs. Some new songs. They went through their constume changes as usual. When they would go backstage none of the guys would smile at each other, pat each other on the back, give them a hug, mess up their hair, or anything along those lines.
As the guys ran backstage for their last costume change for the night and ever they looked at each other sadly. They all knew they only had two more songs. Two more songs left to enjoy being on stage, singing, dancing, and goofing around with their best friends. Two more songs left to sing as a group.
They each pulled each other in for one last hug. They were being yelled at and told they didn't have time to do that, but none of them cared. They just wanted one last hug.
The five guys finally prepared to run out on stage. They gave each other pats on the back and weak smiles.
As the opening cords began they began to sing their first single they released in the United States. The one that changed their lives forever.
Surprisingly instead of hearing screaming they heard and saw all their fans singing along with bright smiles on their faces.
When they turned around at the end of that song they each mentally prepared themselves for what would be their last song ever.
"Hey, Hey. Bye, Bye, Bye!" and so they started singing their biggest hit and signature closing song that they always performed at the end of every concert ever since the song was released in 2000.
As they looked around while they went through their routine. No one was sreaming and no one was singing. It was dead silent except for the five guys who were on stage singing.
Everyone in the audience was mouthing the words to the song as they gave the five men their undivided attention.
At the close of the song all five of the guys knelt down on the stage as their ending pose. The lights went out and it was pitch black. It was still silent.
Dull blue eyes looked up and out at the crowd in front of him. That was it. It was all over now. The roller-coaster ride he had been on with his best friends for the past 8 years was now over. All the ups and downs. The moments of lonelness and moments of not feeling lonely. The time they go out to wild parties and the times they'd stay in to sleep. Just everything. It was one hell of a ride. But the ride was over now.
He slowly stood up, with a trembling lip and walked over to one of his friends who was still down on the ground. He knelt beside him and put an arm over his shoulder.
Brown eyes and a tear stained face looked up. He looked up into his friends dull blue eyes and hugged him tightly when he saw his friend start to cry too.
Normally they wouldn't cry, but it was all over. The thing they loved more than anything was all over now.
The brown eyed one stood up very slowly and looked out at all the faces staring back at him. "Come on JC. It's time to go."
The blue eyed man, better known as JC looked up at theman who he had grown to know, treat, and love like a brother. "I can't Chris. I can't go."
Chris knelt down and slowly pulled JC up and then proceeded to walk towards the side exit pratically carrying him.
They both stopped and turned around to look around one last time at their fans and then at the other three who were still on stage in the same position before disappearing.
The dull green eyes finally looked up, but didn't stand up. He had tears streaming down his face, but made no attempt at wiping them away. He wanted to remember this moment. The moment that it was all over. He slowly turned his head to look around the stage and only saw one of his bestfriends still kneeling down like him.
He felt someone tap his shoulder and looked up to see dull light blue eyes staring at him. The man whose bottom lip was trembling reached down and pulled his friend up for a hug. They stood there for a while before letting go of each other.
Neither one said a word as they walked over to the only one remaining who was still kneeling on the ground. They both knelt beside him on opposite sides and hugged him. The man who had dull brown eyes looked up.
He looked at the person on his left with the green eyes. Lance. Lance was the business minded one and a laid back guy.
He then looked over to his right at the person with the dull light blue eyes. Justin. Justin was always the sporty person. He was the youngest. Only being 15 or 16 when the group started. He was no longer a little kid. He was now 23.
All three of them all stood up and slowly walked to one of the side exits. Like the other two, they too stopped to look at their fans one last time before disappearing.
All the fans still stood stunned, crying, and hoping for the guys to come back out. Hoping they would come out and just sing one more song. Come back out and say it was all a joke and this wasn't their last concert ever. They all just wanted to wake up from this terrible dream.
Slowly and quietly at first they began to chant the name that everyone knew. The name that the five guys had been known as for the past 8 years. The name that was going to remain legendary. The name that would not soon be forgotten. There would never be another group like them.
"NSYNC, NSYNC, NSYNC!" The fans chanted over and over again getting louder and faster with each minute hoping that the guys would hear and come back out.
The five guys were huddled in a half circle at one of the exists watchign and listening to their fans. All five of them wanted to run back out their and perform some more. But they couldn't. It was all over now.
JC placed an arm around Justin and Joey and then pulled them into his sides,as he looked at them with sad eyes. Lance and Chris both turned to look at him. All four guys looked up at him. There eyes mirroring the same looked he had in his eyes.
"Well guys. That was it. It's all over. I enjoyed it while it lasted. I wish we could keep going. I just..." JC began to choke up as he talked."I just wanted to tell you guys that i love you. You're like four of my brothers and best friends. I enjoyed the time we spent together, but it's time to go home. I don't want to lose touch with you guys. We always said we'd still be friends even after this whole thing was over. You know singing in karaoke bars still as a group. Being in a elderly home and causing trouble. I don't want this to end. But like they always say. All good things must come to an end."
The other for guys nodded and then slowly turned to head towards the buses that were awaiting them.
JC stood there by himself for a few more minutes. He smiled faintly as he remembered all their times together. The good and the bad. It was one hell of a roller coaster ride, but the ride was over now.
He pulled a knife out of his pocket and slowly walked over to a wooden post as he carved 'JC Chasez was here 2004' along with a saying that he would never forget. He ran his fingers slowly over his name and then stopped when he got to the saying. He ran his fingers over the saying as he repeated it again softly to himself. "All good things must come to an end."
He dropped his hands and slowly walked away from the stadium, the fans, and the life he had known for the past 8 years.
