Prologue - Chapter 2
Prologue
~Trixie’s P.O.V.~
"Get outta my way, geek" Maureen Whitfield huffed as she pushed me into the lockers. "Yes, Madame Airhead" I mumbled under my breath. Maureen’s little crew of wannabe Madame Airheads followed her like quails trailing their mother. Luckily she didn’t hear me. She was too busy greeting her victims, guys, along the hallway.
This is a typical day in my new life. I’m the new girl here at St. Benedict’s Catholic Academy here in Honolulu, Hawaii. And two weeks into being the new girl, I had acquired the label of a geek. Engraved on my forehead by Madame Airhead herself.
I should tell you about myself first, before I get carried away telling you about Madame Airhead.
My full name is Patricia Stevenson. I HATE being called Patricia. Call me Trixie or Smile, although, you don’t see a smile on my face that often anymore. I have short light brown hair that’s almost blond from afar and bright green eyes hidden under rimmed glasses. I moved here with my family two weeks ago because of my parents. They’re businesspeople. That should explain it. I’ve been moving since I was two years old. And usually, I fall into the geek category in schools I’ve attended. So, it’s not unusual for me to be pushed around by the "cool" crowd. I think that spells me out just fine.
Well, here I am going to spend this typical day in this school as a typical geek.
Chapter 1
~JC’s P.O.V.~
"Dude, I am exhausted! I could drop dead right now" I told my best friends Justin, who was twenty, Lance who was twenty-two, Joey, who was twenty-four and Chris, who had just turned thirty. "I know how ya feel, C" Justin said as he collapsed unto the couch in the bus. Popstar life had taken its toll on me. I had a bad case of the flu. "I am so glad that concert was the last" I said beginning to cough. Joey patted me on the back. "Me too" He said. "Me three" Lance said.
"Hey Popstars!" Johnny said from the door of the bus. "Whatever it is, Jo, I can’t do it anymore" I said. "No, no, no. I have a surprise for ya" Johnny said waving an envelope toward us. I took it and opened it up. My eyes narrowed at first. "Are we gonna do a concert here?" I asked as Chris looked over my shoulder. "Nah" "Then what..." Lance trailed off. "Holy shit! Guys, we are going to Hawaii!" Justin exclaimed. I held the tickets out for them to see. "I take it, you like my surprise?" Johnny said raising his eyebrows. "Damn right we do" Joey said. "When do we go?" Chris asked. "Tomorrow morning" Johnny answered. "That’s enough time for you, Popstars, to pack yo things"
"Look out, Hawaii! NSYNC’s comin’ to town" Justin bounced up and down as soon as Johnny left us. "This is the best surprise yet" Chris said. "I couldn’t agree with you more, Dude" I nodded as my mind drifted off into a world of beaches, sun and hula dancers.
~Trixie’s P.O.V.~
"Hey, Chica!" My newfound best friend, Brittany Leigh Potter, said as she fell into step beside me. "Hey" I greeted her quietly.
Brittany had light brown hair with blond highlights, brown eyes and a sparkling smile. She was the athletic type with a slim frame, so anything she wears looks good on her. She was outgoing and open-minded. I say she was the complete opposite of Madame Airhead.
"I have microbiology with you first period, right?" Brit asked. "Ummhmm" I nodded. "What’s wrong?" She asked me. "I ran into Madame Airhead and her crew" I said looking down on the ground as I walked. "Don’t mind them, Smile. Just ignore them" Brit told me. "Easier said than done. You don’t have to be taunted by them everyday" I said sulkily. "Just ignore them. We graduate in a few months. Pretty soon, you won’t be seeing them anymore... And ya know I’m always here when you need me, girl" Brit said cheerfully as we reached Mr. Freemen’s classroom. "Thanks!" I said.
Mr. Freeman’s constant drone about myofibrils, sarcomeres and troponin complexes bored me out of my mind. Thank God the bell rang for my second period. I headed straight for my locker avoiding the eyes of the people I passed. "Hey Smile, wait up!" Brittany ran up behind me. "I’m sorry" I said sheepishly. "It’s ok" She smiled as we maintained a steady pace. I got my chemistry book from my locker and closed it. Brittany and me had different classes during second period, so I would have to face them alone.
"I don’t understand your taste in friends, Brittany" Kirk Douglas told Brit. I looked down on the ground as I usually do. Kirk had asked Brittany to go out with him a lot of times already. This was just gonna be one of those times. "Why can’t you go out with me, Brit?" Kirk asked exasperated. "Don’t tell me you’re gonna let your little dork friends get in your way" Kirk said. "How many times have you asked me that question, Kirk?" Brit asked him calmly. I saw fire blazing in Brittany’s eyes when she heard Kirk say those words. "A lot" Kirk said. "And how many times have I said yes?" Brit asked. "None" Kirk said. "That’s my answer. It’s never gonna change. So, you can kiss my ass" Brit shrugged nonchalantly as she brushed past Kirk. Kirk’s jaw dropped to the floor.
Kirk looked at me with disgust in his eyes. "What’re you lookin’ at, dork?" Kirk asked. I sensed disgust dripping from every word he said. "Brittany’s work for the nerd outreach program doesn’t start till after classes" Kirk said as his friends guffawed. I turned in the opposite direction and rushed into the Chemistry Lab. Why can’t I just be ignored by them, I thought as tears welled in my eyes.
The bell for lunchtime rang. "Finally" I muttered. I grabbed my lunch bag out of my locker and headed straight to my usual table. My friends Chrysti Sanada, Rex Brown and Brittany were already sitting down. "Hey guys" I greeted. "I hope your day went better than mine" Chrysti said. "Not a chance" I said as I took a bite out of my sandwich. "Awww, come on guys! Lighten up!" Brittany said trying to lift up our spirits. "Not while Madame Airhead is gracing us with her presence" I said pushing my glasses up my nose.
"Ugghh! Why can’t that bell ring when I finish my sandwiches?" I said as the bell for the end of lunchtime rang. People were filing out of the cafeteria. I waited until the lined thinned, then rushed out.
The rest of the day went by like a blur. Maybe it was just because I was in a hurry to get home.
The final bell rang and I rushed out to the parking lot where Brittany was waiting for me by her car, a silver Volkaswagen New Beetle, like mine. To my utter distaste Kirk Douglas was walking toward her too. Kirk put his arm around Brittany’s shoulders. "Brittany, I really don’t understand you, you know" He said looking at me pointedly. "Let it stay that way" Brittany said squirming out of Kirk’s grasp. "Are you working for an outreach program for geeks?" Kirk continued. That hurt. I stood there staring at my feet. "Are you working for a company called Egotistical Jerks?" Brittany said as her temper flared. "Come on, Brittany, let’s go" I said quietly knowing how Brittany can get if she lost her temper. "You stay out of this, dork" Kirk said. "That’s it! Tell me when you’re gonna stop treating Trixie like a dork! In the meantime, you don’t get to go out with me" Brittany said. "If my best friend is with you and I see tears in her eyes, you don’t get anything from me...EVER" She added curtly.
"Let’s go home" She said. "Music to my ears" I smiled genuinely for the first time during the day. "Get in" Brittany said. She revved up the engine and backed out of the parking lot. "I’m sorry about Kirk" Brittany said. "In my world..." I began. "Which is in another time and place" Brittany giggled. "Yeah, yeah" I said. "In your world, what?" She urged me on. "Those kind of people don’t even exist" I said. "Atta girl!" Brittany laughed.
Chapter 2
~3rd person P.O.V.~
"Get yo butts going, Popstars! Your flight’s in two hours!" Johnny said as he opened the curtains to the guys’ bunks. "Five more minutes, Jo" JC groaned. "Were heading to the airport right now" Johnny said. "What for? Our flight isn’t for two hours" Justin said half asleep. "The airport isn’t just next door, sleepyhead" Johnny said as the guys rolled out of their bunks. "You can get more sleep on the plane once your on it" Johnny said. "K, Jo" Lance said as he went into the shower.
"Ok, we’re ready" JC said as they carried their bags out toward the monorail. "Have fun, guys!" Johnny said as Justin and the guys boarded the monorail. "Thanks Jo!" Chris said as JC coughed. "We’ll see you in a month!" Justin said. "Hopefully, I’ll be better" JC said as he sniffled.
"Man, I can’t wait! Finally, a whole month off!" Justin said as they got off the monorail. "J, you forgot these" Lance said holding out a hat and a pair of dark sunglasses. "Why would I wanna hide this?" He pointed to his face. "Because of them" Joey said pointing his thumb toward a big mob of squealing girls heading toward them. "Oh shit!" Justin said as he grabbed the hat and the sunglasses from Lance.
They didn’t have a chance to run the mob caught up with them in no time at all. Great! Lance thought as he heard JC blow his nose. "I’m not feeling so good" JC whispered. "Hang in there, Dude" Chris said as they posed for more pictures and signed more autographs.
"I am ready for a whole month in Hawaii" JC said weakly as the man behind the check-in counter gave them their seat numbers. "We all are" Lance said. "J man here certainly has learned not to forget certain items when going out" Chris smirked. "Yeah, yeah" Justin said dismissively. They plopped down on seats and waited for their flight to be called.
"Flight 471 to Hawaii now boarding" The voice called over the speakers. "Is that our flight?" Justin asked. "Yup" JC answered checking his ticket. They hurried to the gate. "Alright!" Chris said bouncing up and down on his plush, first class seat. "Yeah! Now I can sleep" JC said as he took his seat beside Chris. "You need it, Man" Justin said.

A place where two worlds meet is a place filled with happiness, freedom, beauty, peace and most of all love. I wonder when the time is gonna come for me to be catapulted into that place. My world.
"Smile! Get down here now!" Brittany yelled. "Keep your shirt on, Brit!" Trixie said as she put her journal away. Perfect! Another day with airheads and jerks, Trixie thought.
"Hey Muffy!" She bent down to pat the ball of fluff that had come rushing toward her. Muffin was all black except for her paws and the tip of her tail, which were white.
Muffin let out a small bark as Brittany towered over Trixie. "Ya ready yet?" She said as she grabbed Trixie by the wrist and dragged her downstairs. "Yeah, Brit" Trixie said. "Just get in, girlie" Brittany smiled pointing to her car. "Ok" Trixie said.
"Smile, do you spend every morning in space?" Brittany asked. "What’s wrong with that?" Trixie said. "Nothing, except for having a spaceball for a best friend" Brittany teased. "Gee thanks! Should I take that as a compliment?" Trixie grinned. "I think so" Brittany said. "I didn’t see you parents today, are they home?" "No. They had an appointment. They always have appointments" Trixie said. "Oh. Sorry for asking" Brittany said solemnly. "Don’t be" Trixie said as they arrived at school.
"Hey Ashley!" Brittany greeted a girl brown hair and turquoise eyes. "Hey" Ashley replied. Suddenly Trixie stopped in her tracks. "What’s wrong?" Brittany asked Trixie. Trixie pointed worryingly down the hall. Brittany saw Maureen walking toward them like a queen looking down at her subjects.
"Well, well. Look what the cat dragged in" Maureen smiled leeringly at Trixie as her crew snickered. Brittany covered Trixie. "I was just about to say the exact same thing" Brittany said. "I wasn’t talking to you" Maureen rolled her eyes. "Let’s go, Brit. She’s just trying to start something" Trixie whispered to Brittany. "Little geek here is gonna run away" Maureen said sarcastically. "They probably needed to fill in the cheap department when they got you, Maur" Brittany said matching Maureen’s sarcastic tone. "Whatever" Maureen said finally walking away with her baby quails trailing her.
"Why do even stand up for me, Brit? I don’t deserve it" Trixie sniffled. "Cut the crap, Smile. You’re my best friend. Nothing can change that" Brittany’s eyes twinkled. "You don’t mind being stuck with a spaceball?" Trixie asked. "Hmmm...Nah" Brittany said as she wrinkled her nose. "Let’s go" Brittany said pulling Trixie down the hall.

"We have arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii. Please remain seated until the plane comes to a complete stop. This is Captain Sagara. Thank you for flying with Delta Airlines. Enjoy your stay" The voice announced.
"Yes! Yes! Yes! Hawaii!" Chris said bouncing up and down. "Chris, shut up!" JC said. "You’re not excited to be in Hawaii, C?" Chris asked pouting playfully. "We’re here?" JC bolted up. "Uh huh" Chris said nodding vigorously. "Alright!" JC pumped his fist in the air. "You guys gonna sit here wide-eyed?" Justin asked as people disappeared to outside the plane. "We are in Hawaii, Dude!" Joey exclaimed. "And we get to stay for a whole month!" Lance said. They put on their hats and sunglasses and went down the plane.
A man was waiting for them by the gate. He held a card saying "THE guys". "That’s him" JC pointed. "How’d you know?" Justin asked. "Johnny told me" JC said. "Hey!" The guy greeted them. "I’m Johnny’s cousin, Harry. I’ll be taking you to you hotel" "Thanks" Lance said. Harry ushered them to the limousine.
"Alright!" Chris said as they settled in the limo. Harry took them to the hotel.
"Wright" JC told the concierge. "Just a minute, sir" The concierge said as he typed something into the computer. "Here are the keys to your rooms" The concierge handed them their keys. "Thanks Harry" They said as they got into the elevator. "No problem guys. Just give me a call if you need to go somewhere" Harry replied.
"Hawaii, Hawaii!" Chris did a dance into his room. "I’ll see ya’ll later!" Justin said as he went into his room.
