P!NK'S real name is Alecia Moore. She was brought into this world on September 8, 1979 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her father taught her how to play the guitar in the likes of Dylan and McLean. She is with LaFace Records. P!nk earned her name from camp. She said, "Well, I went to camp when I was young. I was six or seven and I had my first crush goin' on. We all went swimming but I didn't have a bathing suit. So I just swam in my underwear. No big deal. When it was time for the kids to put their dry underwear back on, I was like, "Aw, shucks, I don't have any. I'll just put my shorts back on." My crush, Devin, decided that he was going to pull my pants down, and there was my ass. Can I say that? Oh, well, I said it already. Anyway, I got embarrassed, and I turned pink. I mean, I turned bright pink. And he looked at me and said, "Pink." I never lived it down. So ever since that day her name stayed P!NK.
P!nk had many influences on her road to fame. They were Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Eminem and of course her wonderful father, James Moore. When she was just an adolescent her styles went from skateboarder to hip-hopper. The changes in her life probably gave her self confidence and her rebellious ways.
When Pink was 14 she produced her first song. She began to shine in Club Fever. On Friday night on her five minute slot, that a MCA rep spotted her and asked her to audition for Basic Instinct, but the group didn't go far. Pink wasn't disappointed because she felt like she needed to sing alone. She was then assigned to another female group named Choice. Who's demo was being signed to LaFace. The group separated because of the different likes in music. Pink stayed with LaFace. She joined up with Daryl Simmons to write the song 'Just To Be Loving You'. This was the beginning of a career.
A-lot of her life is put into her music. When she was 15 she decided that she was going to sing about relationships she has had instead of love songs that artists don't mean. Her music is made to compliment the pop side of R&B. L.A. Reid assigned her to be a solo artist after listening to her songs. Pinks song 'There You Go' debut single became very well known and loved as her 'Can't Take Me Home' cd reached the top 40's of the U.S.'s album charts.
