Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How much would it cost me to hire 2 DJs? A: The same price as hiring 1 DJ :)

Q: Does it cost me extra if I want lighting at my party? A: Yes, a little extra. You'd be looking at an additional $50

Q: If I lived over 100km from Mildura, how much would it cost me all up? A: This would be a the Gold Package. The Gold Package is recommended for people that live at least 50km from Mildura. (Ouyen, Robinvale, Broken Hill, Swan Hill, Renmark). The package includes Complete Lighting, 1 or 2 DJ's, Travel Costs. As mentioned ealier, prices are negotiable but for a Gold Package it can vary between $600-$700. We like to send at least 2 DJs to such parties. (No additional cost for 2 DJs)

Q: If I can hire a DJ from my area, can you still beat their price even if you have to travel 100km+ ? A: We will definately beat their price BUT, there still will be additional costs like Travel Costs & Lighting (if required). Example: A DJ in your area quoted you $450, we will quote you $400... plus travel costs which would be around $100 extra.

Q: Is there a minimum hourly charge? A: Yes, we charge for a minimum 5 hours. What this means is that we will still charge you for 5 hours even if you hire us for 2 hours. Example: Costs are usually cut down into hourly wages: If we quote you $500, it would be $100 per hour (unless negotiated). We don't see it appropriate to travel 100km+ and DJ for 2 hours and return with $200.

Q: What if I am having a party in Mildura, would you still charge me for 5 hours? A: In most cases, Yes, we will charge a 5 hour minumum fee. Setting up, performing the set, clearing up would stand out in a 2 hour party and would seem "not worth it". We see a 5 hour fee appropriate mainly because setting up, performing and clearing up doesn't seem so evident after 5 hours.

Q: Would it cost me extra if I want a DJ for more than 5 hours? A: Yes, but extra/additional hours are negotiable. If you hire Planet DJ for your party, we will quote you for 5 hours. If your party seems to be going for longer, at the end of 5 hours the DJ will notify the party host that the 5 hours are expiring. It's a little like a jukebox after 5 hours. You need to insert money to play more songs. DJs will stop playing music at the end of 5 hours unless negotiated before expiry. On estimation, additional hours range between $30-80 per hour (depending on the location)

Q: What if I notify you that the party will go for more than 5 hours BEFORE the party? A: A quote will be given before the party :)

Q: Would I have to pay before the party or can I pay after the party? A: We prefer payments to be made BEFORE the party to save time. Negotiations can be madeas far as payments are concerned.

Q: Is there a certain time you have to stop the music? A: In most cases, Yes. By law the music has to be turned down to a sensible level (DJs know this level). If it's a house party, chances are the music will need to be turned down very low after 12:30am and be stopped by 1:30am. If the party is in an industrial area (Warehouse), Open Field (Football Club Hall) the level of music isn't so much an issue whereas time would be. We usually stop the music at 3am the latest (which usually doesn't happen)

Q: How long (in duration) was the longest party that Planet DJ played at? A: Speaking in hours, Planet DJ visited Renmark and began a party at 10pm and stopped the music at 7am. (this didn't include the amount of time used to set up and clear up) Reason being, the party was in a small town just outside Renmark. It was at an Open Air Football Team Meeting Hall, no residential buildings anywhere near the party. In other words, it was an appropriate place for a LONG party!!!
