A Fire Inside

Ever fallen in love with an album? I know I have. The trouble is coming across ablums to fall head over heels for, especially these days. We get so much pop and commercial sh*t shoved down our throats that we forget what we really like. Then AFI comes into your life. That's what happened to me last year. I fell in love with the guitars, the vocal arrangements, and Davey Havok. He has one of the most amazing voices I have ever had the pleasure of hearing.

Now AFI has a new album! I have fallen deeper in love. The album is titled Sing the Sorrow and opens with 'Miseria Cantare' which sets the mood. 'Bleed Black', 'Silver and Cold', 'Girl's Not Grey' and 'Death Of Seasons' are my favorites right now. 'Girl's Not Grey' is first single released from Sing the Sorrow.

Green Day

Frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in California on Sunday, January 5, 2003. He was given sobriety and breathalyser tests and taken to a nearby police station in Berkeley, where he was charged with alleged misdemeanour drunk-driving, and later released on $1200 bail. Rock The Casbah

Joe Strummer

*1952 - 2002*

Born John Graham Mellor in Ankara, Turkey in 1952 the son of a British diplomat, he began his musical career playing with rock standards covers band the 101ers. He put together The Clash in the mid-70s with Mick Jones, bassist Paul Simonon and drummer Topper Headon in west London, helping the band emerge as one of the most important to burst from the 1976 punk explosion. Always political and edgy, public school educated Strummer and Jones swapped song-writing and singing duties within the band. Their third album, 'London Calling', a double LP, was widely seen as their finest and still continues to be hailed as one of the all-time great rock releases. After the Clash's split in the early 1980s, Strummer continued making music with a variety of projects, including a stint with the Pogues. His most recent band is Joe Strummer and the Mesceleros. Strummer also flirted with a brief film career appearing in Jim Jarmusch's 'Mystery Train' and Alex Cox's 'Straight To Hell'. Strummer had always turned down many lucrative offers to reunite The Clash. However, in recent weeks, rumours had grown that some sort of comeback was in the offing. The autopsy found that he died of a sudden cardiac arrest. The coroner Michael Rose who conducted the examination in Somerset, December 24, confirmed what had been suspected from the outset. Strummer collapsed at his Somerset home on December 22 after returning from walking his dog. His wife, Lucinda, found him and tried to revive him but could not. (source: www.nme.com)

He will be dearly missed.

Alice In Chains

Layne Staley -- 1967-2002

Alice in Chains' Layne Staley died from a mixture of heroin and cocaine, an autopsy and toxicology report revealed.

Laboratory results determined the singer died April 5, according to a spokesperson for the King County medical examiner's office, the same day fellow grunge pioneer Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994. Staley was found dead two weeks later, surrounded by intravenous drug paraphernalia in his Seattle apartment.

The death certificate reads Staley's death resulted from "an acute intoxication due to the combined effects of opiate (heroin) and cocaine." The death was classified as "accidental."

The lethal combination goes by the name "speedball" in drug circles. The same ingredients contributed to the deaths of comedian John Belushi in 1982 and actor River Phoenix in 1993. (source: www.aliceinchains.com)

theWhite Stripes

The White Stripes, formed by brother and sister act Jack and Meg White released their first, self-titled album in 1999, and instantly gained fans across the globe for their eclectic rock music.

Their highly critically acclaimed follow-up album "De Stijl" was released the following year, but it was not until their huge 2001 summer album "White Blood Cells" that they shot to fame. Songs such as "Fell in Love with a Girl," "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground," and the smash hit "Hotel Yorba," have brought what has been described as "modern blues rock" to the masses.

Having accepted a $1,000,000 record deal with "XL," and with their first major European tour selling out instantly, it is only likely that the Stripes titanic rise shall continue in the coming years. (source: unknown)

With their new album, Animosity, Sevendust have hit a critical and commercial peak. For the first time in the life of the band, they have had time to write and create their songs at home, not in between tour dates as they have in the past. With this new found freedom, the band wrote 13 mind blowing, beautifully-crafted hard rock classics. From the pounding first single, "Praise," to the intense low-end rhythm of "Shine," Sevendust is back where they belong ... at the top of the rock game.
