APRIL 21th - GAME #19 vs St. Louis Cardinals (11-8)
The Mets ten game homestand continues with a four game series with the St. Louis Cardinals. Jenrry Mejia (2-0) goes up against Tyler Lyons (0-0). The Mets called up 40 year old Bobby Abreu to add some power off the bench. Bobby was hitting .395 (15 for 38) with one HR and 9 RBI's. Andrew Brown was sent to AAA Las Vegas to make room for Abreu. David Wright is on an 11 game hitting streak while raising his average to .316 with 11 RBI's. The Mets will celebrate Military Monday by wearing camo uniforms (that look too much like Padres jerseys).

Jenrry Mejia pitches 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball and nice defense by SS Ruben Tejada take the Mets one game over .500 with a victory over National League champion Cardinals. Travis d'Arnaud gets two hits and David Wright extends his hitting streak to 12 games. Daniel Murphy's steal of third base gives him 25 straight steals, the longest current streak in the majors. Tejada made two nice stops diving to his left, one which was turned into a double play. Mejia's shutout innings streak is now at 13 2/3. Curtis Granderson strikes out 3 times to extend his slump.
DOH!
Opps I did it again! While waiting for the game to be over, before sitting down to watch I again had my phone in my hand and being the news reader I am, I pulled up my Feedly app and what comes up? The Mets final score. Now they won 2-0 but again I don't invest much attention to a game that I already know the final score. So as I write this I am actually watching the game (8th inning) and finishing my site update. That is two games I've done this out of nineteen. With games starting at 4:00 PST and me not getting home from work until after 5:00, watching live is not always my first choice.
IKE UPDATE: Ike Davis gets his second grand slam of the season in today's Buc's game. His first HR for the Pirates came in the 4th inning against the Reds, the same team he slammed with his last homer as a Met. Ike has 9 RBI's this season. Eight of those nine RBI's are from his two grand slams.
