APRIL 23th - GAME #21 vs St. Louis Cardinals (12-9)
Jon Niese (0-2) looks for his first win of 2014 against the Cards Michael Wacha (2-1). David Wright's 12 game hitting streak came to an end last night. The Mets have not homered in 6 straight games. The lack of offense is hurting the improvement of Mets pitching.
11-10 |
A windy game that was reminiscent of Candlestick Park and a close play at the plate to preserve the Mets lead. Jon Niese pitched well, scattering 6 hits over 6-2/3 innings. The Cards Michael Wacha struck out 9 in the first three innings but only lasted 4 innings before leaving, having walked in two Mets runs. Curtis Granderson finally ended his hitless streak with a single in the first. A perfect throw and relay along with a sweep tag by d'Arnaud kept Matt Carpenter from tying the score. The out call was verified by instant replay.
I had the day off from work for an early morning doctor appointment so I was able to watch the whole game live. Whoo-Hoo! That doesn't happen often when the Mets are playing at Citi Field.
