APRIL 25th - GAME #23 vs Miami Marlins (10-12)
Wheeler (1-2) vs Alvarez (1-2). The Fish come to Citi for the weekend to face Zack Wheeler, who has three quality starts in his four 2014 outings. The Marlins lineup is led by Giancarlo Stanton, who leads the Majors with 27 RBIs. Four Marlins have already reached double-digit RBIs [Stanton, 27; McGehee, 16; Jones, 10; Ozuna, 10]. The Mets David Wright (12) and Lucas Duda (10) are the only NY players with over 10 RBI's.
13-10 |
Although Zack Wheeler did not get a win, he pitched 6 innings giving up 6 hits and striking out 10. This was the 11th consecutive game that a Mets starter did not allow a home run. Mets starters have a 1.81 ERA during those 11 games. Daniel Murphy's steal of third was his 26th straight steal without being caught. Murph is 4 for 4 this season. After just missing a call on a close pitch that would have ended the inning, Gonzalez Germen surrendered back-to-back home runs to give up the lead in the eighth inning. Down to the last strike with two outs in the ninth, the Mets rallied with three straight hits to tie and then win the game. Curtis Granderson got his second walk off at bat of the season.
Friday, payday, and babysitting the granddaughter. Can't beat that. And watched the Mets come from behind and win in the bottom of the ninth. Marlins closer Cishek had saved 33 straight games before tonight's loss. Since starting the season 0-3 the Mets are playing at a .650 pace that would give them 92 wins. Of course it's still April but stranger things have happened in New York before. Just happened to get some baseball cards that I had made up of my granddaughter and I today in the mail and appropriately used it as my Card of the Day today.
IKE UPDATE: oh for 3
For those of you counting, that is zero hits in 13 at bats since his grand slam for the Bucs.
