Game 3 of Skid's season at Citi. April 3 - GAME #3 vs Washington Nationals (2-0)

Zack Wheeler was to go against the Nats Jordan Zimmermann but the flu bug got Zimmerman so Tanner Roark starts. Father and Husband of the Year candidate Daniel Murphy returns to the lineup. Terry Collins has announced that Lucas Duda has been handed the first base job to see what he can do. The Mets set a Major League record by striking out 31 times in their first two games (18 Monday & 13 Tuesday). OF Chris Young was put on the disabled list with his quad injury.

0-3

Zack Wheeler pitched the Mets second straight "quality" start but left after six innings, giving up 3 runs and 7 hits while striking out 6. The Mets again scored in the first inning but remained lifeless through the rest of the game as Washington swept the three game series. Curtis Granderson's two doubles were a lone bright spot offensively. Juan Lagares picked up a hit for a third straight game. The bullpen was again atrocious. Scott Rice is having severe problems getting anybody out, his ERA is an astronomical 54.00!

The Mets now have 39 strikeouts and only 17 hits in 3 games. One of my few favorite TV shows is "The Walking Dead" which it's current season ended just last Sunday. A long pause for six months while waiting for the next season and then right back to Rick and his group fighting bad people and zombies. These 2014 Mets are reminding me of the Walking Dead as I've waited six months and the Mets are playing right where they left off last season and after three games it is a bloody mess. Hopefully it is a quick bad start and upward progress can be achieved.

My favorite Mets manager: Bobby Valentine
