Game one of Skid's season at Citi. APRIL 20th - GAME #18 vs Atlanta Braves (12-5)
Mets Zack Wheeler (1-2) versus Atlanta's David Hale (0-0). Before the game manager Terry Collins announced that 38 year old veteran right-hander Kyle Farnsworth is his new closer replacing the struggling 36 year old Jose Valverde. Valverde had surrendered 4 home runs in his last 3 appearances and gave away the Mets chance for a walk off win in yesterday's loss to the Braves. Also Collins shook up the batting order a bit by moving struggling new Met Curtis Granderson to bat second and putting Daniel Murphy in the cleanup spot for today's game. Curtis is batting .140 with just 4 RBIs in 57 at bats and has a current o'fer his last 10 plate appearances.

9-9

Another long battle with the Braves but at least this one ended well for the Mets. Curtis Granderson continued his April slump with an 0 for 6 but his sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 14th inning scored Kirk Nieuwenhuis with the winning run. Zack Wheeler pitched six innings and had nothing to show for it, giving up 3 runs and 6 hits. Dice-K Matsuzaka threw 3 innings of hitless relief, walking 1 and striking out 5. The Mets bullpen today: 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 8 K's. A lot better than the first week of April. David Wright led the Mets hitters with a 4 for 6 day bringing his batting average up to .316.

OK, so I didn't watch the game on my phone during Easter service at church. Not that I didn't want to. I figured I'd watch the game once it was over since I no longer trust MLB.tv to work correctly when streaming live. When it was over 3 & 1/2 hours since the game had started, I looked at the scoreboard to see a 3-3 tie in the 11th inning. So I watched live from that point on. Walk off sac fly from Granderson. A hero without a hit. Nice to go 0 fer 6 and have the game winning at bat. I hate trying to watch games on holidays with family around. I feel like I'm alienated from those in the house. Well, not really, I'm over it. I don't go to their house while they are watching important stuff. yeah.
