May 20th - GAME #45 vs Los Angeles Dodgers (23-22)
Rookie Rafael Montero (0-1) makes his second start against LA's Josh Beckett (1-1) in the first game of a nine game home stand. Dillon Gee will miss another start allowing rookies Montero and deGrom the chance to make a case for staying in the rotation. Travis d'Arnaud is still feeling the effects of a Rafael Soriano backswing to the head and is not expected to return to the team anytime soon. Free agent SS Stephen Drew re-signed with the Red Sox ending the season long clamoring for him to become the Mets shortstop.

Down 6-1 the Mets tried to come back with a two homer inning in the sixth to make it 6-4. Granderson and Duda each deposited shots over the right field fence off Josh Beckett. Twice leaving the bases loaded, the Mets still are missing that clutch hit when it counts. Daniel Murphy struck out three straight times. Rafael Montero did not pitch well giving up 5 runs in 4.1 innings. Granderson went 3 for 5 but struck out twice. The game clocked in at 4 hrs 8 minutes, one minute short of becoming the longest nine inning game in Mets history.
When I got home from work and turned on the game it was already in the 3rd inning. I watched the last three innings in 3-D on the new TV. The Mets didn't look any better. Where oh where are the Mets of April? After a winning April the Mets are now 5-13 in May. So tomorrow [Wednesday] I'm going to miss the Mets broadcast and watch a winning Mets team as Noah Syndergaard pitches for Las Vegas in Fresno. I'm looking forward to seeing Aaron Brown, Josh Satin, Omar Quintanilla, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, and Matt den Dekker play up close. The drive to Fresno is just as long [1.5 hrs] as it is to San Francisco but much less traffic. This will be my third Las Vegas 51's game in Fresno this year and I've got tickets for a Saturday night game in July when Vegas visits Sacramento [also a 1.5 hr drive].
