May 24th - GAME #48 vs Arizona Diamondbacks (18-31)
Zack Wheeler (1-4) vs Josh Collmenter (2-2). After a 132-minute rain delay, Friday's game was postponed after the D-backs had held a 2-0 lead in the middle of the fourth inning on a two-run homer by Aaron Hill against Bartolo Colon. None of the stats became official, with the game "washed" from the books. An old fashioned 2-for-1 doubleheader is scheduled for Sunday. The Mets are able to call up a 26th player for the DH so right-handed reliever Vic Black got a promotion from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Zack Wheeler pitched well yet again but did not get a win as Arizona, despite 9 strikeouts (7 by Wheeler) squeaked out a 3-2 win over Zack and the Mets. Lucas Duda was 0-fer-4 and left 7 runners stranded on the base paths. David Wright went 3 for 5 with his third home run of the season.
Friday night I went out with my son and bought him a new barbeque for an early birthday present. We put it together and then he cooked up some nice tasty rib eye steaks. I didn't get home until late (10:30) to find the game had been rained out. Earlier Friday my brother invited me to go to San Francisco to see the Giants-Twins game on Saturday night. I have not been to a Giants game yet this year and with the Mets visit coming up in two weeks I decided to go with him. Saturday afternoon I watched the Mets game on MLB.tv until the ninth inning when we had to leave for the Giants game at 4:00. [Mets game was the usual lack of offense and Wheeler lost again] We made it to our seats twenty minutes before first pitch. One of my brother's friends from work whose family has Giants season tickets supplied the seats in the club level behind home plate. Nice seats just in front of the visiting announcers TV booth. I need these seats for next year when the Mets come to SF, I assume the 2015 west coast swing through San Francisco will be long enough for me to fly home and do my usual Mets @ Giants games. We gave a wave and thumbs up to Giants great Will Clark who was watching the game with his son in one of the press boxes. HOF Bert Blyleven was just two rows behind us in the Twins TV booth. Giants won 2-0. A little chilly but not as bad weather as some Giants night games can be.
